    No, you will fly.

    They will just move others.

Your daughter will sit next to one of you.

OK thanks Richardw, want to enjoy the lead-up to our flight, not dread it.

    Thanks again.

    1) Make sure you check in online irrespective of the seats it give you (the costs for not doing so are horrendous)
    2) If you can then get at least 2 of those seats together - this is both your fallback and the best you're going to get
    3) If 2) isn't possible then as soon as you get to the airport flag the fact that daughter is only 12 and should't be seated alone - they need to make arrangements
    4) in future if the 3 of you want to sit together you must reserve the seats and pay the price

    1) Make sure you check in online irrespective of the seats it give you (the costs for not doing so are horrendous) It doesn't allow us to checkin on line, it says something around DD is 12 and only seats available are for over 16s and to contact Jet2.

    3) If 2) isn't possible then as soon as you get to the airport flag the fact that daughter is only 12 and should't be seated alone - they need to make arrangements - apparently the woman on the phone made a note of this, but I might call back to double check.
    4) in future if the 3 of you want to sit together you must reserve the seats and pay the price. We don't mind not sitting as a 3, we never pay for this and are fine being allocated wherever, I was just worried when it said only seats left were for over 16s.

Not sitting with OH on a flight is a bonus to him I think as I am so excitable! :rotfl:

Just to let you all know what happened with this.

Although on the on-line check-in it was only showing seats available for over 16s only (emergency seats), on check-in we were allocated 3 seats (not showing on-line), they were all separate however we did have a seat :-)

    Thanks for everyone's advice.

Just thought I'd add my experience today to this thread if its any use to those reading.

At time of booking I didn't pay extra to reserve seats for me and OH. Today I checked in online and it defaulted to give me 2 emergency exit seats numbered 2 and 5 - ie in the middle of each bank of seats, either side of the aisle. This seemed a rather random seating allocation to me so I hit the 'Cancel' button rather than the 'OK' one (because they were emergency seats I had to agree to sit there).

We were now allocated two seats towards the back of the plane, one window seat and the other adjacent. An ideal situation and it saved me a few quid.

My advice to anyone checking in online with Jet2 is to not accept the seats you are first offered. Try aborting and have another go later and see if gives you a better option.

I've just checked in online with Jet2 for the first time. I was expecting the option to Cancel rather than OK if I didn't like the seat selection. However it checked us in and allocated seats automatically, with no option to see what seats were allocated or to cancel them.

We are booked on a package rather than flight only if that makes a difference.

They are at the back of the plane, but at least they are seats together.

I haven't checked in for the return flight yet as the first available seat from the back is one in a row on its own and I'm worried it allocates us that one and another on a different row.

Any idea why I didn't get the option to Cancel?

So was your 12 year old daughter sat on her own?
  • I'm flying Jet2 tomorrow with my 5 year old daughter. It won't let me check in online saying "standard seating is not available for your reservation" and that I need to check in at the airport, presumably because most of the seats have already been allocated.
I'm concerned that they will seat me apart from my daughter?
Was just hoping someone with experience or knowledge could put my mind at rest!

    Thanks

If you look at post #9 you'll see what the CAA recommend. While the OP's 12 year old daughter might be considered old enough to sit apart I'm sure that wouldn't be the case with a 5 year old.
  • Thanks for the reply. I've printed out the CAA guide and will take it along in case I need to argue my case. They are only guidelines so I suppose could be ignored.
I would hope common sense would prevail and they will put us together. My daughter would freak out if we weren't :(
I must remember to check in online much earlier next time.
