One of the things that is deemed to be 'proof' of purchase is where the good is an own brand item as it seems it was in this case.
Also, I think what was being referred to as 'brain dead' was the fact that only 37p was involved rather than the actual technicalities of the case.
BRB off to buy a Technica tv then return it for a refund with my proof of purchase.0 -

One requires an educated brain to undestand the reason for these policies and also the law is because theft is frequent, more frequent than the "it says tesco so i'm(he/she is) bound to have bought it" bunch may think. Many but not all have a brain like this0 -
I'm with you OP - it is the principle of it being faulty regardless of the cost which also winds me up. I had a similar experience at B&Q with a B&Q branded product which I posted about, and which several of the posters here also had a go at me about. Don't take it personally, not everyone on this forum is friendly0
