Fingers crossed he'll do them himself!
I hate letting DH shirts/polo shirts/t-shirts build up...can't you iron them and hide them lol!!!0 -
Hi all:j
Thought I better pop in to report back - otherwise you might think I crashed & burned:eek: Had 10 sacks collected to go to CS, so they are gone forever, have been tackling the room of doom, but our bedroom also resembles a ROD - in fact, hard to tell the difference!! And I couldn't find a particular handbag that i wanted to use on Sat, due to the stuff piled everywhere, so I'm going to concentrate on our bedroom, hopefully then there will only be one ROD upstairs, and eventually downstairs as well:D
However, shock horror, DH - inspired by my efforts I like to think - has cleared a lot of stuff out of the office, and even more shocking DD22 has 'cleaned her room' without being nagged:eek::eek::eek: Truly, I am stunned!!
Anyhow, will report back later on progress, have difficulty gettin onmline as DHs laptop is in for repair, so i can't get on here very often atm.
Good luck to all messies, we have snow so good excuse to do more housework although had email from library re o/due books - have renewed them already so might have to take them back soon:rotfl:New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Morning Messies!
I`ve just done a `marathon` stretch over the weekend - 2 long-days, ward really hectic and badly short-staffed throughout. On Saturday night cars were all frosted up, and we were all getting a bit anxious yesterday too when it was trying to snow..., but thankfully it didn`t stick. We were the same crew both days, and the Sunday was just as eventful but slightly easier because at least there was staff continuity. Actually it was rather good the way we all sort of rallied, went into hyperdrive, and got through it together rather well! To be honest, our ward is pretty good that way, we all get on and there`s a real team spirit most of the time, not all the wards are as fortunate this way. Trouble is, the more we cope like this the more they`ll expect us to put up with it!
The ham I cooked last days off has taken a right battering as we`ve lived on hammy meals for the weekend, so not much cooking/washing up. Still lots left, but I`m giving us a break tonight - thawing some YS venison steaks, & HM chips & salad.
House not too bad considering - not trashed in my absence, anyway!
Up and out early again this morning, had a few errands to get done in town, plus bins out, birdfeeders filled, poo-picked, uniforms washed & hung up to dry upstairs.
Now on my 3rd coffee since stopping for a break and a catch-up here.
Next?
I`m going for a trash-trawl upstairs, as the bins haven`t been emptied yet and there`s still space in ours, there must be stuff to fill it!!0 -
Afternoon Messies.
 Sashanut, the de-messying bug is obviously contagious in your house! Great stuff, and let's hope it continues.
Emms, well done you and colleagues. It must be so much easier to have a constant team, rather than it always changing, or even ever-changing agency staff. How long do you have before you're back on the ward? I hope with all the hammy meals, you've not all become porky!
I did my ironing last night, while watching Countryfile. I do minimal ironing, but I do like my clean pillow cases totally crease free. For a day of rest yesterday, I did quite a lot in the end, what with changing the bedding on our bed, too. Not sure what I'll be doing today, as it's another very dull pouring with rain day. We have a man replacing our side gates, and one of Mum's. Poor soul - I know he's in full warerproof gear, but even so!0 -
Bearcub - we don`t usually have a constant team like that 2 days running. The down side of the weekend arrangement is that no-one who was there at the weekend is there on MONDAY for continuity - that`s just the way it worked out this time.
I`m back in on another long-day on Wednesday, but then days off rest of the week.
The following week I have Annual Leave - only discovered this on Saturday, nice surprise!
I just stopped for a `break` here at 2pm.
Since my last post I`ve filled every inch of the bin (bin men still haven`t been) from my trash-trawl upstairs & in DGD`s room.
Filled one shopping bag with paper from spare room of Doom (mostly work-related old handouts, well out of date & no shredding needed)
Filled another shopping bag with books for CS.
Peeled spuds for tonight`s chips.
Think I``l try a bit more clutter-busting before I run out of steam...0 -
I have a confession to make... I've been over visiting the flyladies thread
I have certainly been motivated by it but it's fair to say I am not cut out for doing what I'm told when it comes to cleaning! Having read what they are up to over there, I went home last night fully intending to clear the clutter off the lounge radiator and hoover the carpet in there. Instead, OH had a go at me for spattering hot fat over our new hob  (Yep, that's right, I am now cooking on gas! :j) so I spent the evening sulking in the kitchen. Started with cleaning the hob so it is back to shiny and new. Then cleared the drainer so that the hob plates had somewhere to drain. Which meant putting the empty (clean) cake tin on top of the fridge so OH doesn't put it on top of the microwave and block the vents. Whcih meant finding space for the potatoes in the fridge rather than on top which is where they hide when the fridge is full. Opening the fridge I realised its as empty as its been in months and I cleared mouldy veg out of the veg trays at weekend so ended up cleaning the whole fridge. And in doing so, chucked a load of crumbs at the corner where things tend to stockpile, including recycling which OH insists on leaving on top of the recycling bins because otherwise they'd get too full (err, they'll never fill up if you don't put stuff in 'em ). So I ended up clearing and re-organising that corner as well which led onto cleaning the rest of the floor. And as we were hoping to have heating working this week sometime :j I also cleared the clutter from the top of the kitchen radiator.
So as I said, fly lady was very motivating but I didn't tackle a single thing on their list for yesterday :rotfl:
Today is kitchen day so I can have a day offOr perhaps I should go home and try to clear the clutter off the lounge radiator again. Gas man is confirmed as coming back Thursday so it needs to be gone by then anyway.
And then we'll have CENTRAL HEATING :T
At least the boiler is by the back door so gas man doesn't need to come into the main living space. Kitchen was clear for his visit last week as i've managed to stay on top of that since xmas.
Hope all is well with everyone - I have been keeping up even if I have defected to the dark side! Sounds like progress is being made in most households, even if it is slowly. I'm envious of all those who can get their OHs on board - although mine seems to be learning slowly. Just wish I could speed him up a bit. Maybe to glacier speed0 -
Hi everyone!
Hope you are all ok. Just having a quick read through the posts, my laptop is playing up and this is the 1st chance i've had for a few days!
Seems like you are all quite busy, I had a clear out in the office this week, we are being inspected for our Farm Assurance certificate on Monday so i'm having to make room for the inspector in the office as he checks our cow passports etc as part of his visit!
Tomorrow i'm meeting my niece for lunch and will hopefully get back in time to do some more chucking out in the office!
No snow here at all, but very cold. I've just lit the woodburner as my daughter has a friend round and they've gone outside to feed the calves and i bet they'll be freezing when they get in!
Any way, better get moving, roast duck for supper and i promised the kids yorkshire puds,
take care all!!
JxxxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Sonastin, I confess I have had a look at the Flylady thread from time to time, but I found it scarey. And I`m not very good with other people`s lists either! (not that I`m that good with my own lists, but making them helps me focus on MY priorities - I get a bit carried away, then read the list & realise how ridiculous some of i is!)
Had a long lie-in this morning, catching up on last few days.
I`ve sorted a few more books to go to 2nd-hand bookshop today, but mostly it`s been a kitchen day here too. moving stuff around, some cleaning, and not so much `meal-planning` as cooking ahead based on what needs using up first.
For tonight I`ve made a shin-beef/tomato/cinnamon & parsley casserole thing in the tagine, & separately cooked a load of pasta (tiny stuff, looks like rice!) in blitzed tomatoes & olive oil. I`ll use up some tired cheese grated over the pasta too.
For tomorrow I`ve used up several leek tops, a peeled spud that didn`t get chipped yesterday, a couple of carrots and a tomato plus a bit of the fat off the ongoing Ham, that`s blitzed into a lovely soup! We`ll have Ham doorstep butties to dip in it.
(I think there`ll be pasta left tonight but it`ll get used day after tomorrow, with aubergine & cheese on top - & maybe with some Ham...)
Very pleased because I`ve avoided wasting a load of tomatoes, leek tops, a BIG bunch of wilting parsley, cheese on the turn, and the Bendy carrots. Plus it all tastes nice, and I`ll not have much to bother with after work tomorrow night.
Now going to make a fire then colour my hair. Hate that job...

Hi all
You deserved that lie in Emm! Sounds like you get on with your work colleagues and that must make such a difference. As someone who spends a fair bit of time in hospital I have so much respect for anyone who works there. Oh and cant believe you are still using up that ham! It must have been enormous. I made leek and potato soup last night, havent done that for ages.
Mmm, Flylady isnt for me but some of their tips are good. Anything that helps is worth a try though!
FW, its good sometimes to have something that makes you sort out a room isnt it? Like when DS has the home tutor, it makes you look at the place differently.
Well hubby is off because of the weather. Its awful but I get a tiny bit irritated having him around all the time. I do love him but its just when we are together all the time! I decided to defrost the freezer today - couldnt get the drawers open properly and it had to be done. Hubby said he would do it - and soaked the rug in the utility room. So now along with all the washing I am struggling to dry I have got a wet rug. Oh I know he is trying to help and I shouldnt complain but still ...
Fair bit of snow around here - the dog loves it. Took him up the fields this afternoon and he went mad diving in it and charging around like a lunatic. It was worth getting wet and cold for it, just wish I had taken my camera.
Now I really should mop the kitchen floor, no point in doing it earlier while everyone was going in and out.0
