Where is everyone? Have we all got tidy all of a sudden? Or are we all drowning in mess and unable to find our computers?! (guess which one applies chez Sonastin... hint, we're not tidy yet!)

So, got 4 loads of washing done today. First lot went out about 11 and pretty much dry by the time I brought it in. Second lot was bedding so also virtually dry by the time it came in. Load 3 is in the tumbly drier now because there's no way it'll get dry outside. Load 4 is sitting in the machine and I'm wondering what to do with it... we're out for dinner with friends this evening. I'm thinking on the airer in the living room with the dehumidifier running while we're out. No time to tumbly dry it before we go out so it'll have to stay in teh machine unless i can persuade OH to let me use the airer in the house again. Should be OK with the dehumidifier on.

Other than that, there's been no demessying here this weekend. OH fancied taking the afternoon off so we went to a garden centre he noticied this week. I say *garden centre* - perhaps christmas shop is a better name. 1 small area of plants and another small area of gardening tools and the whole of the rest of the massive space was given over to tat. 90% of it was christmas tat - and we're still in October. I swear christmas takes over earlier and earlier each year!
  • I'm here!
I did 2 lots of washing.
Sorted the clothes in my 2 plastic drawer units in the wardrobe (finally!) and finished the curtain for the cloakroom that has sat with the sewing machine in the conservatory for weeks! The table there is now clear for the first time in ages.
Feeling virtuous, though I had also planned to clean the fridge today and am now going to be distracted by Strictly for the next couple of hours :):o

I'm here, too! Hi you two!

One of our biggest garden centres here, Sonastin, is famous for its huge Christmas display every year, but I can only cope with it every so often, or it seems to me, as you say, 'tat', or at least tacky.

Well done, Cats, for getting the curtain done. I've ahd a pair of Mum's curtains here for months, waiting to be shortened. I've pionned one, and that's as far as it got.

Didn't get any washing out today, as it was freezing, and I knew it was pointless. I did, though, brave the strong bitter wind, and cut out the old fruiting stems on the thornless blackberry, and tie in the new stems.

I'm here too. We were out yesterday as we won some tickets to a football match. We had a really good time, everyone at the football club was lovely and the match was enjoyable! So nothing happened at home.

This morning DH is painting the living room ceiling and I am continuing to bind my quilt. Next week is going to be a lot of cleaning and detail stuff so I'll more than make up for a quiet weekend with all the stuff I'll be doing.

    Have a good Sunday everyone!
  • How to stop? Just stop and do something else.

Look at things in a fresh way, stop looking at what you can't do and look at what you can do. Ok some things are rubbish and maybe you think doing something for the time being until you can have the ideal set up seems like a waste of time because you'll have to do the job twice. But is it more of a waste of time and energy than feeling stressed by the state that things are now, is it more of a waste than allowing your stuff to own you instead of you owning it. Is it more of a waste than not having to think about this stuff all the time whenever you want to do something?

Do you know the crazy thing about this post? It could be me saying it to my kids, a friend or colleague. So why don't I think it out for myself. I read it earlier in the week and it mad me sad and hurt, but then the truth does hurt. Now I'm back and fighting this ingrained mindset. Yesterday I emptied all the drawers and cleaned them, put all the summer stuff in a case, chucked loads of unused passed their best items, made up charity and recycle bags and chucked out a box of crxd. Very much work in progress but I feel happier than I have for quite a while. Today I have already done 4 loads of washing, made soup for lunch and am planning on going out guilt free with a very good friend. Watch this space.

    Hi,

I in no way meant to upset you or anyone but I did put it bluntly on purpose. I have been in a position where I was in a cycle of not getting things done and it can seem like there are no answers, but then someone said, about something else, doing something is better than doing nothing and it cut through all my excuses/reasons and really helped.

I don't say anything about getting tidy in a blase way although it can sound that way. No-one who has dealt with the hoarding or chronic disorganisation stuff thinks that the process is easy. The thing is is it pretty simple which is why the words can sound harsh I think.

As you've realised, no one on here wants to upset anyone else but we're here to encourage. As you've also realised, sometimes that encouragement has to be a push, and a hard one at that, not a gentle word. And do you know what? It worked! So, well said, alec e! And, just as well to pause before all the busy-ness!

One WM load put on before going to church this morning, which is in the process of being hung on the drier. No, not an extra long service, but lunch then a phone call from DD1. Have to clean some marks off the bedroom wall, where one of the cats has been sitting on the chest of drawers, washing himself. Hardly major, though. I'm still surrounded by boxes, but that's how it'll stay for a couple of weeks at least, while I'm card-making. Might try and find somewhere to put the family history boxes, although I'm not at all sure where.
  • Hi all!

    I'm still here too!! :D

Dreadful weather today after such a nice day yesterday. I helped my neighbour move house yesterday, they have moved to a different farm a few miles away, i'm gonna miss her loads :(. Anyway, i unpacked her kitchen stuff and made the kids beds etc while everyone rushed around with the heavy furniture. Today i've made some biccies and a sponge cake, had a lovely hot bath as i had a stonking headache, sorted the girls clothes for tomorrow as my mum is taking them shopping and have just sat down.

I'm going to think about what i can be doing tomorrow while the kids are out....................;)

    Take care all!!

    Jxx
    It's a farmers life for me......:j

Please understand I'm pleased you said what you did because it was true, it wasn't your fault I felt upset but my own. So a big THANK YOU from me.

I promise I realised no malice was intended, the upset was part of me, working it out for myself. I'm very grateful for the replies, sometimes like sticking plaster a quick painful pull is needed. It might take time, but I will get there.
