I'm fussy about loo rolls too and don't like paying a fortune for them either. I get the 'Nicky' brand from Farm Foods. They are £2.25 for a pack of 9, or £4 for 2 packs. Like Andrex, soft and strong and with a pretty pattern.Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I have been up since stoopid o'clock - the dog got up with me but is now snoring in his bed
Online banking done
WM and DW on
Sports paperwork all ready to be handed into governing body
Next tasks are the bathrooms, but better wait for everyone else to get up0 -
I made some progress yesterday. We have a lot of cupboards but it's all long and narrow so fitting everything in is quite tricky but a bit of jiggling around I think the pantry, porch and the wardrobes are now pretty much sorted. Each area had some very unsuitable storage so I swapped it all around and there you go.
I realise I am the only person who would ever be excited by that but if it stops me grumbling on a daily basis and prevents yet another trip to Dunelm to find something better then it's a good thing!
Have a good day one and all.0 -
Alec E - I`d be exited if I`d got my unsuitable storage sorted out! (fat chance though)
It`s grey and wet here, and I`ve got yesterday`s damp rugs & dog-bed hanging around.
Yesterday I also attacked (quite literally!) the kitchen freezer. All the drawers were stuck so I had to chisel things out, put some dodgy-looking stuff in green bin, along with anonymous left-over bags....the decent stuff I put in my big `thermos` picnic bag, and some left out to thaw & use..so, tonight we`re having beef casserole - well, I think it`s beef...
I swear I`ll never let it get that bad again - but I`m sure I said that last time too.
DS is going off to his GF`s tomorrow for a week. This evening he`ll no doubt bring me his `last minute` laundry, then tomorrow I`ll have a clear run to get some de-cluttering done. There IS hope....0 -
Hey Messies!
Well, I've again been distracted with work and not posted for a few days, so I'll will have to catch up with the thread!
At the moment I'm feeling all out of sync. I ended up having to do a night shift lastnight 9.30pm - 7am and I've just woken up from a sleep. I'm glad that I don't do them permanently, it really c*cks up your natural body rhythms!
Suffice to say I don't particularly feel like de-messyfiying today although I will attempt to get the basics done like the washing up, maybe a bit of ironing and putting things away.
Hope you all have a good afternoon0 -
:T OH unloaded the DW this morning. And put (most of) the dirty pots into it. There is hope after all :j0

Felt inspired yesterday after watching Phil Spencer Secret Agent and went through my house as if I was going to be buying it and came to the stark realisation that I would not put an offer in
Started with the bathroom
Removed the baskets that we store stuff in and sorted them
Threw out of date products
Dusted the shelves they sit on
Threw the bath mat as darling puppy had chewed it
Polished the mirrors
Cleaned the window and frames
Dusted the venetian blind
Dusted the corners
Mopped the floor including getting behind the radiator pipes
Spare bedroom
Looked more like a storage room than a spare bedroom, not helped partly because it is being used for the wedding bits and bobs
Removed all items that should not be in there to the hallway
Wallpaper steamer
Ladders - now back in garage
Scrapers - now back in garage
Hoover - now back in utility room
Old PC and peripherals - now in loft as need to sort then flog, give away
Old pictures taken down many moons ago now in loft
Storage crates - now in loft
Crafting stuff, all part used and dried up glues now in bin
Other stuff now ready to go onto Ebay - 18 lots - I have not made any cards for over 3 years so think it is the right thing to get rid
Furniture rejigged
Cobwebs removed
Window and frame cleaned
Wallpaper found that was to be put up in this room about 6 months ago - might still do but not just yet, too much else going on
All wedding stuff now neatly put away, not just on the floor in boxes
Now looks like a comfortable relaxing room, might sit up there tonight and read while the boys watch the footie
Today's plan is
Normal daily stuff DW, WM
Remove all cobwebs
Dust the lounge
Hoover throughout
Light some candles and give myself a pedicure :T
Have a good day all and a lovely weekend:beer:0 -
Amazing work gilly!
That is a Flylady tip too, to go through as if you were an Estate Agent or potential buyer as it helps you to see the things that you're usually blind to.
Friday is always my get ready for the weekend day so I just go round doing all the little bits and bobs that haven't been done and put away all those things that build up over the week, put laundry away, change sheets and stuff like that so it's minimums only for the following two days.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning all.
Sonastin, re your OH, remember `baby steps`.
WOW, Gilly! That`s an awful lot you got done in just one day. I`m inspired....maybe from reading your post, but also because DS Left The Building at 7 this morning so I can do stuff.
I put 2 loads of WM on last night, no rain today so already have a line full of towels hanging out, and the damp rugs,
Last night`s meal was beef, as I`d thought, and it was gorgeous., plenty left to freeze for a `ready meal` and now there`s freezer space for it too. I`m determined to use stuff from the freezer before I go buying more, .
Taking OH in to another meeting about his job-change, and have to drop off DGD`s PE kit at her mum`s, as it was left here. Then I`m going to blitz the LR within an inch of it`s life (except the Teggie-webs, they can stay)0 -
Where have all the Messies gone?? Have you all gone and got tidy...?
Even I am only half-messy at the moment because all downstairs is actually quite clean & presentable (that only because of having the week off and DS`s absence since Friday!) but upstairs is still Grim.
I went to see DD today, first visit to her new place as she moved a couple of weeks ago. She has 4 young children (18 months, 5 yrs, 7, and 10), & still hasn`t finished unpacking/sorting, but her upstairs still isn`t as bad as mine.
This week I`ve defrosted a freezer, got downstairs ship-shape, cooked some great meals (OH said so) and done LOADS of washing, (so now it`s all clean stuff waiting to get put away...somewhere) but apart from that I can`t see where the week has gone.0
