    Evening everyone

Emm good news about the changes to your job and the change of job for your OH.

Farmerswife sorry to hear your sad news regarding the dog.

Life here is currently frantic. We are managing to keep up with the laundry and the dish washer and that's about it. The rest of the place is slipping out of control including those places I had reclaimed this year and had been keeping on top off, we discussed the situation this weekend and neither of us are happy about it but looking at the calendar we can't see any time in the next few weeks where we can do anything about it. This sounds very glum I didn't mean it to, it doesn't seem as bad as it could and I think that is partly as OH feels the same way so their will be 2 of us trying to deal with the situation.

OMG it was VILE AND DISGUSTING!!!! Who on earth leave a house in this state, I don't know :( We only had the time to do the basics and we spent 10 hours there. :( But now everything we do in the house can only make it better :D

the vet told us that she's got a leg tumour and there's nothing they can do :(! They said they'd be surprised if she lasted another month!!! Bit of a shock as we thought she had a sprain!! Anyway, we've brought her home and have to keep her comfortable, we are aware that we'll have to have her put to sleep at some point :(.

Oh no that's terrible :( This is the worst part about having animals as companions :( I don't really know what to say that could make you feel better, so just know you're in my thoughts xxx

Ellie, when we moved here the house was pretty grim, mainly because it had been empty and I have to confess I didn't scrub our old house as I'd planned, everywhere was ok, kitchen and bathroom scrubbed but tbh the people we sold to messed us about so much and cost us so much money I wanted to annoy them. It had been that kind of sale!

Coming here and having to scrub the place was good though as it felt like we were getting to grips with the place straight away. Sounds a bit odd but it was nice to get into all the nooks and crannies.

My MiL, bless her, told me that in a way it is nice that the house requires so much work, because I can make it pretty again. All houses deserve to be pretty :rotfl: But yesterday I was feeling rather despondent from lack of sleep and just the fact that the house was empty and didn't feel like home (well d'uh, it's empty!) :o We have a very very very limited budget to make it nice again, so a lot will have to be very creative and DIY. I'm sure once I'm in the house I'll love the challenge :) Slight problem though, we may have to get rid of our bed frame and go for a divan bed as it might be too big (1 inch!) for us to open the door in the master bedroom (the door is not at the end of the room like in most bedrooms, weird...)

Not a very nice experience you had Alec. I can understand why you didn't want to make the effort! In our case, the vendor was annoying however we won't let that get to us. But even if you didn't thoroughly your house, it can't have been as bad as what we discovered when we arrived. Yuk. And obviously, because it was empty, the garish wall paint stood out even more :rotfl:

DH used to be a housing officer in a largish city so he said the house was not bad at all! The house we live in now was largely unmodernised so we've had to do plenty to it from the electrics outwards. No cash for a new kitchen or bathroom though. Just 40 years of terrible DIY to undo.

    Morning folks :)

Well ive had a great week, i decided to be really good and stay off the computer! I also got a bargain on wallpaper for my living room, so its given me the incentive to get it gutted.....yes its taken me a week to gut the room and paint 2 walls lol, but its done, so ive just got the papering to do this weekend and i will have 1 nice, clean, tidy lovely looking room :):) whoop!

Its been quite scary round here tho to be honest, we have had 2 attempted kidnappings this week (fir and last night) and the one last night was only at the end of my road!! So to say everyones running a little scared is an understatement. My kids are kicking off cause i wont let them play out, or walk to school on their own lol....but id rather be safe then sorry! scary times!

hope everyone is ok and clearing lots :):) off to catch up with the thread now :)
  • Morning all.
FW - that`s awful news about your dog, it must be devastating when it was so unexpected and you know she`s got so little time.
BB- hang in there, at least you know that you`re not going to have to tackle things by yourself if your OH is on side.
Ellie - would it help if you hung the door the other side? Or even put in a sliding door? Just a thought, if you want to keep the bed....and might be cheaper??
Taliahmai - sounds like you`ve done wonders in a week! Not easy when you`ve got the worry of keeping kids safe in those scary circumstances.

    Chez-Emm...
I have discovered that my poor old Daftie-dog has been `dribbling` a little in her sleep, so more laundry today, her upstairs bed and the rug that goes under it (thankfully it`s a `kitchen` mat with waterproof backing, and thankfully I have spares too). And her evening `routine` shall be more closely monitored from now.
I was hoping to do a bit more in the garden today, (inspired yesterday evening as publican`s mum promised me some Michaelmas Daisy cuttings next Spring, been wanting some for ages) but it`s drizzling hard, so no outdoor drying either. Humph.
I`ll just have to stay indoors and tidy up!
  • Hello everyone!

Thank you all soooo much for your kind words regarding Jen (the dog)! I'm feeling much better about it now, although it's very sad to see her like this i know that she's had a brilliant life with us on the farm and she's been well loved and looked after by us all! And when she does go to doggy heaven i'm sure there'll be plenty rabbits for her to chase! :)

I popped to the shops this morning, well when i say 'popped' i mean i drove 15 miles to get to the shops! Got a few things from the butchers, trying out some cheaper toilet roll from B&M as we seem to get through loads and it's costing a fortune, i'm quite fussy with toilet roll so we'll see how it goes....
Got home to make Mr Farmer his lunch, then changed the kids beds and remade them. I've left the hoover upstairs so i really should have a quick whizz round with it before i bring it back downstairs i suppose. Just put mince in oven for tomorrow nights shephereds pie, got the stuff ready for a rice pudding for tonights pud, just need to do the potatoes & veg for tonight before a go to a meeting at kids primary school (i am chair of govs - they have no idea about my slovenly household ways!! haha!!)
    Take care all!!

    Jxx
    It's a farmers life for me......:j
