cos i always leave my dishes until theres none left then im forced to do them :rotfl::o really should start doing them everyday really :o plus i cook and make everything from scratch, so theres always pots and pans and everything being used

    Afternoon messies.

What a shame the cakes weren't a success, kitty. :( I can understand about the pots and pans - they can be a pain to clean. My biggest dislike is cleaning meat tins after a roast. Yep, washing up every day may be the better way to go, and think how much better you'll feel that you've done them!

Lucymelissa, I suppose attacks of domestic goddess take us all in different ways. Sometimes, I seem to be in 'active mode', and try to do everything, other days, just one job will do. It's not even as if we have a large house, or no time.

Last night, I sorted yet more craft materials. This morning, I set a loaf cooking even before I had a shower and got dressed. Then put on a WM load and, before lunch, I pruned the roses in the front garden. Just doing that makes the garden look so much better. :):)
  • Hi Messies - just a quickie now, I`ll catch up properly at the weekend. Hugs to those in need ((())), and well done to painters, cushion-makers and laundering messies.
Had probably the WORST shift for ages yesterday - a longday at that! Got home later than usual, tired & cross, found water dripping through from bathroom as DGD hadn`t had the shower curtain tucked into bath. but nobody else had noticed. GRRRR! Anyway, not much trace of it now, have washed the soggy bathroom mats today, plus one of my LR woolly rugs, all dried on the line too.
Took DD``s OH shopping in Sainsbob`s, got some nice bargains for them & us, then to Farmshop for eggs, fruit & veg (I didn`t really save anything, as I `treated` them to their stuff, but it was much appreciated and I enjoy doing this sometimes. They are moving soon, and saving hard). Came home in a much better mood.
I`ve put a load of stewing lamb, tomatoes, red pepers & garlic in the slow cooker for tomorrow, and doing cold pork, bubble & squeak & stuffing (leftovers) for tonight. Have to have an early night as I`ve got 2 long days next ...then a whole week off! Hopefully yesterdays` situations will not continue tomorrow - and if they do, I`ll be a lot mor able to cope knowing there`s a week`s worth of light at the end of that particular tunnel!
    Don`t overdo things, folks!

    Cough....cough...cough....

I may have realised while I was up a ladder over the weekend that it was a while since I'd dusted the top of the lightshade in the hall. A long while. So while I (uncharacteristically) had a feather-type duster in my hand a couple of hours ago, I decided to clean it.

The dust didn't rain down-it pelted. And though I only ever think about it to make a joke of it, I am truthfully allergic to house dust. I'm wheezing. And I *never* wheeze. :(

Dangerous stuff, this cleaning. It should probably be left to professionals. :p

On the plus side, I've been colonised by the cat for decent chunks of the last two evenings, and I've managed to hand-sew my new from old door curtain. I put it up tonight, and it is, as I suspected, a couple of inches short-but it will be easy enough to drop the curtain rail by that amount. It looks great-deep red and seriously expensive. Who would have thought it was a faded, baby-food encrusted rag not long ago? :T

I dislike lampshades - never seen the point of them. From below, you only see the bare bulb anyway with the inside of the shade above it. And its a place to collect dust.

My mother spent the whole 8 years I owned my own place on a concerted campaign to get me to put lampshades up but she never succeeded. But now she's got OH on board and he's insisted on lampshades throughout (except where he's fitting spots -thankfully!). So now he can take responsibility for dusting them.

After all as you say Laurel, cleaning should be left to the professionals!

I'm with you, I do not see the point in lamp shades, I am very happy with bare bulbs as I find all shades make the room darker, OH doesn't agree so he is gradually putting up shades  he will never think to dust them so that will make the place darker and the dust will be even more evident :rotfl:

Busy day today - lots of muck shovelling to do especially in the kitchen!! Its gross in there, need to do the LR too - no time for any housework tomorrow as I'm out from 11 till 4.30 taking/watching/bring back DS to and from a Tag Rugby Tournament that he is playing in for his school. Only a little tournament but it involves 8 mile trip to pick him up then 20 miles in the other direction to get to the tournament then return trip home, I don't mind doing it normally but petrol costs are really biting at the moment and I do think that if the school organise these things then they should organise transport - willing to pay something towards it but this trip will eat into my budget alot anyway, rant over . . . . for now lol

    Off to shovel !!!!!!

Just discovered this thread last night and I'm enjoying it so much, you are such a lovely lot! I'm a bit puzzled though about what the thread is a meant to be about? It seems to be a Flylady for those who aren't obsessive about tidiness. Is this right? :D BTW, I don't mean this to sound insulting!

    Hi betony
Its about encouraging each other to do something no matter how small and about supporting each other even when we manage to do nothing. Here we can say how bad we've been without being judged [no-one on Flyladies does that either] and we set ourselves only the goals we want to

Hope that makes sense, Helen x

    Today I have
washed up, wiped worktops, tidied worktops, sent several texts, browsed the debt boards for info that I needed [and got!] listed some items on Fleabay, stuffed sarnies that DH made for me early this morning [he is such a darling]

Bear - did I read that you had pruned Roses - is it ok to do now as I have a couple that need it, they bloomed into November and then I didn't dare prune them incase I lost them.

Welcome betony. Yes, you have it about right, I think. It's what drew me to this thread - that everyone on here is a realist, and recognises that not keeping your house spotless (or even quite clean) isn't the end of the world.

You're doing well, helen! :T Yes, it's the right time to prune roses, but probably better not to if frost is forecast in the next couple of days. Like you, we had a couple of roses bloom very late and, in fact, there's one not far away that was still smothered in flowers just a couple of weeks ago.

I was surrounded by pretty papers last night, as my sort-out continues. Nearly finished, then I can reorganise my files and craft cupboard, and advertise all I don't want on Freegle. Have done nothing (except clear up after the cat, who was sick on the LR carpet), because I visited one of the local homes. Lots of very confused people, but they're so lovely, and so are the staff. :)
