Thanks for the good lucks - interviews are the third week of May so I do have plenty of time but as I am fighting for a really well paid post that I have only been in for a year. I would love to get it full time permanent but then these things are sent to try us.
I am washing (god I am obsessed with it!!!) some towels (it is just the good weather) and waiting for a courier to come with a parcel - sods law dicates that if I go out he will appear and it is a redelivery!
I will head off to asda later - I have lost a lot of weight in the past few months and desperately need some new clothes - I am only wanting a couple of pieces and can allow myself a couple of things. Talking of decluttering, I need a haircut (will need to arrange that this week) and also I am tempted to book an appointment for a massage - not that I have the money for it but that I ache all over (one of the symptoms of my health problems) and although I have tried a couple of soaks in the bath it isnt shifting. There is a girl locally who does home visits but that puts me into a panic as the house isnt clean enough for that.0 -
Good luck with the ASda trip Buddingblonde. I went into our local one on Friday and you would have thought that an apocolypse had been announced, not they they were going to be shut for ONE!!!!! day. Even though I worked in retail for 10 years it never fails to surprise me when folks go into siege mentality.
I hope the fridge is coming along Purpleclutterbuck. I did mine last week and it's still nice to look inside. I just hope it stays that way. Now I just need the rest of the kitchen to match.
I would like to announce that I completed my ironing mountain last night. To be honest I was having a lazy night but my DH put Carry on Camping on (the Carry on films really get on my wick - and the irritating Barbara Windsor:mad::mad::mad::mad: makes me want to kick the TV screen in with her stupid laugh) so I decided ironing was the lesser of two evils at 9.45 last night. Right I will calm down now - sorry:o
Off to glue a bookshelf back together now and bake some bread. Then a good old sort out of the computer table.

Good day fellow messy club members
Have ambled slowly into the day, BUT I was doing some ironing at 1 a.m. this morning so don't feel too guilty about my lie in with a good book (that's my downfall, if it's a choice between housework and a book the book wins hands down).
On a positive there is now a smaller ironing mountain, the clean washing has been sorted and distributed and the dog bedding is ready to peg out.
Best of luck with the interview BB - I had my first interview for over 10 years last month (I was made redundant at the end of March) so know that waiting for interview feeling.
As for people dropping in unannounced - it's funny with a large dog and 12 snakes no one does this anymore(the snakes are all in locked vivaria I must add).
I think most of my clutter comes from the itmightcomeinuseful gene as well as the justincase one. Ah well. Off now I've finished my tea to
a) peg out the dog bedding
b) continue to work on the front patio (actually it's some paving slabs at the front of the house but if I call it a patio it might turn into one).
Have a good day everyone.:)0 -
I wonder if there is a DNA test for those genes Soup - I would like to be tested for the alldoitlater gene too.
How did you get on with your job interview - was it as bad as you thought it would be?
Well I have been rather silly - I went to the local shops and ended up spending £15 that I dont have on junk food. I dont know what possessed me but now clothing budget is severely reduced - may end up looking on ebay instead.
I have been looking at the old bank account - dont know how I am going to budget a hair cut, clothes and a massage - hair cut is a must (looking like a burst fag at the moment) but I really feel the massage is needed too. OH is good at giving back rubs or foot rubs but there isnt an inch of me that isnt achy and he wouldnt pay enough attention to everywhere I need it before losing interest.0 -
I see everyone has been busy.
I had a day off yesterday. Well sort of while watching films yesterday sorted my dvd's and cds. As well as some clothes for rags. And some to be altered.
Any how. It all looks worse than when I started.

Funny that - I have managed to make a few rooms look worse than when I started - I live in hope that all these wee jobs will all be completed before I mess up the rooms I have already done!0

Its nice to see the fellow messy people are still motivated. I mentioned to my mother outlaw, yesterday that I had decided to stop stock piling the clothes once washed. In reply she said Iv noticed, lol. As she was nice about it I did not feel offended. Mind you I really dont give a toss.
Im going to wash the kitchen floor. Dog has been put in the yard as he has done nothing but,Fart:eek:. Parakeet is next. Evil little man. He looks at me with those little beady eyes waiting to pounce. He is funny though says everything I say.0 -
Hello all!
Well the shed has been well and truly de-cluttered, tidied, swept..........and sooooooooooo much easier to get into!
Temper lost a few times cos it is so hot (cant do much in the heat) but job done!
Just got to take rubbish to the tip, think hubby can do that.......
1 step closerIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T

I have just discovered this thread and thought I might join in, although I don't know how successful I will be. OH is a hoarder and also doesn't seem to have any problem with mess! I, on the other hand, do have a problem with mess (it drives me nuts actually) but lack the motivation to actually do something about it. I work long hours and have a long commute to and from work (about 3 and a half hours a day) and just can't be bothered to spend the little time I have at home on cleaning. I am also tired all the time so it's really difficult to get things done. But I do want to try as I hate living in a mess.
My biggest issue is paperwork. I just don't seem to have anyway to keep it so it piles up on my dining table and there is so much of it! I should probably get a filing cabinet but money is short and about to get shorter thanks to a reduction in work hours.
I am really impressed with the progress you are all making though - well done all!0 -
I've been avoiding dealing with it for months...telling myself I was up at the allotment to WORK, no time to sort it out, had to GARDEN.
Then, this morning...I opened the door to the Shed in front of both my parents and they saw the true horror of 6 x 8 feet of chokablockness from which we had to retrieve the tools and somehow insert 8 small bags of compost.
 It was horrible. And I came face-to-face with a spider big enough to saddle up and ride and screamed like a gurl instead of a grown-up (ahem) woman. Not perfect but lots better now but the spider is still in there somewhere which means the nooks and crannies are off-limits. Anyone else avoid sorting the shed/ garage/ basement for fear of blasted critters? On the plus side, I have discovered minimalism websites and am going to try to apply a dose of the same to my cluttered life. Won't work, but it might help a teeny bit.
My life is afflicted with MBUs (might-be-usefuls). These come in all shapes and sizes and are beggars to store.....:rotfl:
