I know what you mean about walking past the clothing piles and feeling guilty. My mum always had moutains of clean clothes stacked on sides as she had five of us and one who was disabled . Iv only got two children and Iv moutains. Iv no excuse really just being lazy.
Iv got to sort our cellar but its a giant job . Iv got to sort through lots of boxes. I think Ill do it in those babysteps you mentioned. One box a day.
One box a day sounds like a great plan to me
I have just emptied under the bed  Half of the lounge is full of stuff in boxes, but the other half is kinda tidy, so I can forget the mess
I think I'm going to stop for the day. I may just change the bed linen but that's it. Tomorrow will see more de-cluttering, but tonight, I relax0 -
Iv the outlaws coming Sunday. Mind you Im not going to kill myself to get everything done. As long as the bathroom, kitchen and livingroom is tidy Ill be happy.0

BB, you should meet my parents' two cats. Apart from the usual lot of mice and birdies, one of them has taken to bringing is strange kills; a slice of pizza, 2 sausages and a chicken drumstick which didn't originate indoors have all appeared on the floors in recent weeks. We think one of the cats is robbing next door's patio meals.(blush)
My little fat cat used to come back with cooked cauliflower which folks had thrown out. Used to turn my stomach - urgh.
Going to have a go at the bathroom tonight. Wish me luck:rotfl:1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Woke up this morning and stepped on a dead mouse  Wish I could convince the cat I can fix my own breakfast.
My parents came over, and my mum has done my ironing and my dad the lawns (lucky me!). I was going to get on with laying out my swirly beds, but my dad has offered to use my bricks to build me an arch (wow :j), so I need another plan for that area. I cut down a couple of bushes, dug over a bed and chopped a lot more off my humungous tree stumps. I'm hoping I'll have them finished, and the replacement trees planted, by the end of tomorrow. Phew.

Where do you get parents like these? My parents run their own company and view us three kids as staff, so when we visit them, we get ordered around doing lots of little jobs! They would never dream of doing anything like that for us.
Thank you for the inspiration once again. Yesterday I had lots of jobs on my list to do, but hadn't started them as I wouldn't have been able to complete them in entirety. But I listened to you ladies and did the parts that I could do. So whilst I didn't clean all of my windows, I did half of them leaving only the kitchen ones to do. And I planted the coriander seeds, leaving me the carrot seeds to plant (although I have no idea where!).If Plan A fails, remember there are 25 more letters0 -
Well I am up and about - dont know what to do today but it is lovely and sunny so might wash some throws and cushions. I know that I should be trying to tackle a big job or at least start a big job but at the moment I really cannot be bothered. All my motivation and energy seems to have gone (god knows where).
I have made up my mind I will attempt something so I will report back later.
Most likely I will do something this afternoon - big football match up here today so OH will be shouting at the telly later so will need a distraction from that.0 -
Snookey have you tried washing with very dilute biological washing liquid/powder? Saw this tip somewhere and it certainly helped to cut down the marking activity.
With 6 cats and 2 dogs there are always going to be the odd accidents. I use biological liquid laundry detergent, so when I can't squeeze any more out for laundry I fill the bottle with cold water (enzymes don't work above about 37 degrees C) and then just add a squirt to a bowl/bucket of lukewarm water to wash floors or wipe down surfaces.
Apparently it's supposed to get rid of the chemicals in animal pee that make them use the same spot, that's why you need to keep the water cool so the enzymes are still working.
Going to continue with laundry and tackle the animal beds next - a really big task, but with washing lines should be easier to dry.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Hi Soupdragon I do use washing powder. Iv a big box of Asda value powder that I use but even that does not stop him. Iv ordered a dog belly band from America that stops them from weeing in the house. Im hoping that this will work. He is fourteen now so I dont expect he will change.
We have four cats. All of our cats go out apart from one who refuses, so I have one cat tray just for her.
I was sitting in my armchair last night with a cat on each arm rest and one on the leg rest in front of me. I looked like the mad cat woman, lol.0
