Just need to vent so apologies in advance!
DH due back this afternoon from stag weekend. Been away since early Friday morning. He's seen the kids 2 mornings and 1 afternoon this week due to being away with work and away this weekend. Has just texted me to say probably won't be back till late this evening now! I am so cross:mad: Kids are really missing Daddy and have spent this morning playing up with me so we could all do with him back.
Also, just checked out joint b/a. He withdrew £250 earlier this week for spending money this weekend (which I thought was OTT). Now have seen that he's taken more out - total of £410 this week. Now some may be expenses (although he has a seperate acc he should be using for this!) but £50 was yesterday so definately not work related. He is sooo rubbish at budgetting. He used to spend loads on clothes, music, films, going out prior to having kids. He has calmed this down and basically doesn't spend on these. Asked for new clothes for xmas, bday etc. But when it comes to holidays / weekends away. He just blows so much cash it makes all our moneysaving completely pointless. £$10 is more that we would normally have in 'free cash' once all budgetting accounts have had their share each month, and we are meant to be clearing our o/d just now.
We have dipped into our overdraft this last month as we've done a lot of work in the house (moved last year and knew we would have to do lots), gone over budget or a couple of extra things came up when builders unearthed extra problems etc. I am scrimping and saving on grocery spends, ebaying, getting best deals that I can but seems he just can't understand that this is just more than we can afford.
We are completely different in our attitudes towards money and I just can't get through to him. He has a high paying job and everyone he works with has got more disposable income but we have taken on a massive mortgage + renovation project of a home. We have 2 young children and I am now a SAHM. He just doesn't worry about money. If I talk to him about this. He just says he spends so much less than he used to and if I'm that worried, we can just use our savings to pay the overdraft off. I don't want to use the savings as they are all we have if he ever loses his job etc. I know that if we touch them, they'll be frittered away within months as he just cannot budget!0 -
Seriously suffering with depression today - even the Grand Prix is getting on my nerves and I love Motor Racing
I was poorly yesterday but had to go to a Uni Open Day and running in and out of lectures to greet the porcelain bowl was very embarrassing. DH and DSS could have gone on their own but we need you as you understand it all was their parting shot so dragged myself along with a bottle of water in hand, but DH lost it. Imodium did not work on the one end as throwing up from the other - TMI sorry
In two minds about taking a double dose of anti-ds today but not sure - have done three wash loads and announced I am no longer doing their ironing but they do not believe me - well wait and see boys you are almost 52 and 18 and it is about time you learned especially in DS's case if you want to live away from home - why should I do everything about the house and garden - but no problem the garage looks lovely and the cars are gleaming - who the **** cares about the garage :rotfl:
Sorry for the rant - off now to do my ironing which is 8 items - their's are about 30 each - so could be interesting:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Hello again messies and hope everyone is getting some joy out of the day. I have been procrastinating about going to the lottie because I am tired and feeling a bit CBA and now it's chucking it down with rain and I can't go.......result!:rotfl:
I shall come off t'inernet at 4 pm and then do a little light sorting out in the bathroom and call that my day's work. Tis Sunday after all.
Hope everyone has a good afternoon and evening.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hello messies
Yet again I've done rugger all this weekend, yesterday I had back problems all day, I was washing my hands and my back went!! All I could manage was to sit down and stay there, hot water bottle eased it through the night and I woke up fine. Went to the Crem to take kiddies to visit Grandad and came home with a bloomin bad headache so had to lay on the sofa and try and sleep it off, kiddies were really good and kept quiet, they even made sandwiches etc for their lunch! Headache has gone now but I feel really weak and wimpy. I've just managed to hang some washing out and put another load on but thats left me feeling like I've just climbed a mountain in a hurry lol.
Complete waste of a weekend and to cap it all DH is on late shifts for most of next week so very much doubting I'll get much done, I never do when he's around, so all my plans for getting stuff done before the kiddies hols start are so far behind I don't think I'll get half of it done - feeling a bit pee'd off at the mo

Afternoon everyone - welcome new messies!
Just been woken up from a little cat nap by my son who was checking I am OK! So unusual for me to be asleep on the sofa on a Sunday afternoon that he wanted to make sure I wasnt dead I think.
Well the reason I am tired is that I got up ridiculously early once again to go and take another load of junk to a car boot sale. Just been adding up and together my sons and I have made about £220 with two car boot sales and a lot of things sold on ebay. I am so pleased with myself and much of it is down to the inspiration from this thread, thanks guys.
For anyone who doesnt know my story we have lived in the same house for 9 years and gradually every cupboard has been filled with stuff. This meant that it became impossible to put things away so the house became a mess. Cleaning was hard because there was stuff everywhere and I just got on this downward spiral where I thought there was no point in even trying.
I started out tackling one small area of the house and finishing it before I moved onto the next bit. Anything worth selling was piled up on the landing or listed on ebay and anything not worth selling went straight to the tip. I have to be honest it was really hard work but gradually I saw improvements and it kept me going.
It was hard selling stuff for a pittance and even harder throwing things out that were worthless but if anything it has taught me lessons about not buying stuff I dont need in the first place.
OK so my house is not some gleaming, orderly palace. There is still work to do and some rooms (like the utility room) seem to have got themselves cluttered again when my back was turned. The main thing is that I have made progress - and if I can do it anyone can.
I am still with the messies, if you saw the desk I am sitting at you wouldnt believe I had done any clearing out.
Hope everyone is OK, especially Gilly1964, hope tomorrow is a better day for you, my OH doesnt really notice whether the house is a mess or not but I have kind or resigned myself to that. And MummyEm you vent away - its hard when you are a SAHM, fellas need to understand its a job too, you just dont get paid for it!0 -

I've lurked on this thread for a while (mostly procrastinating!) and I know it sounds silly but this bit of YorkshireLass's post has just struck a real chord with me. My flat is always messy and i hadnt really thought about the fact that, because all the cupboards are 'full of stuff', it makes it much harder work to put things away. No wonder I can't get motivated to do these tasks, subconsciously I probably know they are impossible. I thought I was just being lazy about putting things away but if I think about it, I dont think all my clothes would fit in the wardrobe if I put everything away at once, hence I have to leave some on the floordrobe, in the laundry basket, on the clothes airer, etc. And the stuff already in the cupboards hardly comes out as it is much harder to get to than the things I havent put away? I dont even know I've got half of it, I'm always discovering things I had forgotten about and have never used.
I think this might be my lightbulb moment, if I want to be able to keep my flat tidy I need to be able to put everything away at the same time - the answer is not more storage, or even more tidying, it's less stuff0 -
Sounds like a lovely show - and you have a rescue dog too! We've had had her just over a year, she's 6 now, typical beagle (greedy and eats anything and everything no matter how manky!) but very faithful and bonded to my husband like glue - I am tolerated! :rotfl: She won 5th place in a prettiest female dog contest at a show recently!
It's good to take them out and about to different things, even if it's not what they are used to - ours does not like other dogs as she was not socialised as a pup, but we are persevering (hence the Saturday walks where we meet lots of other dogs). She is improving slowly, and several people (and the trainer!) commented on how calm and well behaved she was yesterday - just a bit of typical beagle gobby barking really.
Had a scare with her earlier in the year when a 'dental problem' turned out to be a tumour in her jaw  which was removed, along with 1/3 of her upper jaw and teeth - you'd never know by her eating (same as usual), the only way you'd know is her top lip sometimes gets caught on the lower teeth, which looks a bit strange! She's still clear 3 months down the line so fingers crossed - vet says if it stays away for a year then we can count ourselves lucky.
Well I have ironing to do today, plus general tidying/cleaning, or an hours drive to meet some other beagle owners for a chat/long walk, not sure what to do.........where are my walking boots? :rotfl:
I will do what has to be done on our return! Have a good Sunday everyone.
I'm glad your beagle recoveredRoger has had nine teeth out due to the crappy diet when he was racing...not as bad as one of our girls, who had 29 out! I'm currently trying to persuade OH to let me take on two, as there's a dog called Fox who deperately needs a long term foster carer and he and Roger are so sweet together, like two little old men.
Hope you had a lovely day!
Hope you feel better Gilly, and emg- babysteps, you can do it

Glad I have helped Emg! Actually it was when I was staying with my sister that this dawned on me too. My sister went to put her shoes away, opened the hall cupboard and there was a gap on the shelf ready and waiting. Oh this sounds silly now but I realised that when I want to put shoes away I kind of have to wedge them in the bottom of the wardrobe somewhere so I often didnt try!!! I went through a stage of thinking - I need more storage - and bought all sorts of boxes and baskets which quickly got filled with more stuff. You wouldnt believe how much stuff I have got rid of now but its definitely the way to go!0

We went on the walk!
Met the walk organiser with her rescue beagle - she had been a puppy farm 'mum',had several litters then discarded when she was of no further use! Apparently she had no idea about anything and would only sleep in a cage, had never been on a lead, proper walks, been houetrained, eated decent food - you get the idea. A couple of years on and she's a lovely happy dog! We then met another lady with her cavalier KCS - we said she could be an honorary beagle! :rotfl:
As we started waling we saw another beagle, Lily, with her owners - they said they would be interested in joining any other walks we do. Then when we sat in the cafe, I heard the unmistakable beagle 'aarrroooo' - when we looked, there was another - this one came from the US originally, Dart. Her owner had another dog, a variation of a Dachshund, and they may be joining us in future too.
Of course beagles love to roll in stuff - so we had a stinky hour's drive home! So the first job was to get her in the bath (no mean feat!) and wash her collar, long line and harness.
She is now flaked out on the sofa while DH cooks dinner and I finish off the ironing - she's fed and watered already! Will see how I go and perhaps do the bathroom later - or perhaps not! :rotfl:
Hope you get to foster your other dog - it's so nice to get them out! They really do flourish in a proper family home.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
