Glad you enjoyed your anniversary Alec E.

Well, I haven`t done much around the house -
    Twelve hour shift yesterday (Manic!)
Appointment at the bank this morning, then shopping (just fresh stuff) and uniforms washed (1WM load), meals sorted for today and tomorrow.
Twelve hours again tomorrow, then Friday I`m driving over to Stoke to pick up eldest DGD for the weekend.

After tomorrow I`ve got a week off, plus days off, so should be able to get on with something more than just keeping up. If the sun shines I`m more likely to have a cleaning/washing binge, but if it`s dull weather I`ve got a fair bit of sewing that might get finished!

Not feeling relieved yet, but have finally got to the end of mum's filing (still need to attach labels to hanging files and shuffle a bit).

However fear of the filing drove me to tackle the enormous pile of washing up (including roasting dishes and a dish and 1 oven shelf that have been waiting a final rinse since I cleaned the oven last month). Also folded and put away all (not all that many) my clothes. Took up four loads of washing earlier in the week and added the pile of bedding that has been occupying the back corner of the kitchen table for a couple of weeks.

Really struggling for the past week to do anything. I am sleeping a lot (12 hours +) and if I get up earlier I need a nap in the afternoon or just fall asleep on the couch. DS3 keeps shouting / sending me to bed as I can fall asleep with the laptop on my knees. I do have history with this, I frequently fell asleep in lessons when I was doing a degree (sitting upright) and once fell asleep in the middle of a tai chi routine (usually fell asleep in the 10 minute meditation in the middle).

Will go back to the doctor if it continues but just happy to have got something done at the moment. 10 more things thrown/ in the charity bag.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Hope the doctor can get to the bottom of your sleep issue, should you end up seeking their help.

Emm enjoy your week off, I think I'd be hoping for some good "get things done" days and a few dull "time to sew" days!

I'm having a bit of a blitz day today. I'm still a bit behind with the laundry due to the roof, but it looks like another nice day here so hopefully I can get a couple of loads done today. Yesterday I spent the entire day cleaning and tidying at the shop so I didn't do much when I got home, but I did sort out a couple more things for the charity shop and found some things to be filed. I also had a stash basket so I put everything away that had been lurking there.

We've been cooking a lot more recently, DH has started to make bread which is helping with all those little trips to the shops, but I'm out of ideas, so my final thing on the to-do list today is to find a few new recipes to try.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi Messies!

Mothernerd, well done on that filing, it sounds a bit of a marathon - I can totally identify with the avoidance of one task making me get on with another, too.
I wish I could sometimes have a nap in the day, but I`ve never been able to, I`m rubbish for the rest of the day and don`t sleep that night.

Alec E, I love trying new recipes too, or even variations on old ones. (Last night I did satay pork steaks with a stir-fry of butternut squash `noodles`. Was going to make them myself but found a YS bag in Sainsbobs so saved a bit of time, and the combination worked very well.)

No blitzing happening here yet, I`ve been out most of the day shopping/browsing with DGD - it`s great having her company around the shops, even though I usually avoid town & supermarkets on Saturdays if I can.
Now have a lump of pork in oven for me & OH, DGD is making pizza for her and DS a bit later.
I`m going to put a load in WM too, and sort a second load, as the forecast for tomorrow is dry and hopefully I can hang stuff out in the morning.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Been reading some of the posts on here for inspiration. The clutter and mess it's making of my house has been getting me down for a long time. Last year, before coming off on maternity leave, I would use the odd day of my annual leave to try declutter while the kids were at school. I'd normally get a lot done, but by the time I'd get back round to continuing with it, then the clutter would build up again, so back to square one. Now that I'm on maternity leave, I'm determined to get my house clutter-free as quickly as possible, while still spending quality time with the kids, so I am able to keep on top of it. Lately I've been having bad days, where I've no energy or feel crap physically where my body is achy, which I'm putting down to being so unfit after having my baby. Also, developed carpel tunnel syndrome since my pregnancy, so that's not helping as my hands and wrists ache like mad after a good tidying session. I actually sometimes feel like a fraud, as I'm a clean and tidy freak at work, my surgery is spotless, my colleagues would be shocked if they saw the state of my home :(

No excuses now, I'm going to have to push myself. This week so far, with DH's help, we've got half the back garden done. Just got some weeds to dig out, purchase couple of bags of chips to top up the path and plant some plugs, but need more pots. Given the bathroom a through clean, and taken some stuff to the recycling centre. Plan today was to tidy some more, but only done a load of washing and dishes so far - small steps I keep telling myself, it all helps!

Hi Horse, and don`t worry that your workplace and your home aren`t on the same pristine clean & tidy level. I`m a very `tidy` worker, more so than some of my colleagues on the ward actually! You`d never believe that if you came to my house though.
But Home is different, because it`s home.
Your little ones, especially a small baby, are not an excuse, but a darned good reason to go gently about your mission to get the house in order!
Enjoy your maternity leave, try and make it quality time for yourself as well as your family. Enjoy any progress you make, however small, on the tidying front, but don`t drive yourself to excess, or beat yourself up that you`ve not done enough.
I`ve had carpel tunnel surgery a few years ago, much better now but still get achey wrists and have arthritic thumbs so some tasks like mopping and Henrying I find are best done in short bursts, because of the way you have to grip the mop/hoover. Using a different grip for stuff like cleaning tiles/wiping doors, fingers against heel of palm is less wearing. (Our Hand specialist physio gave me some life-saving tips!) If I overdo it, my best friend is still a bag of frozen peas.

    Chez-Emm:
I have put a load of washing out on the line, and have another nearly ready to go out.
OH and I had supper then DGD started making pizza for her and her dad, he decided to `help` her. We went off to bed leaving them to it, much sound of hilarity from kitchen. Bless `em, I thought. State of kitchen this morning is hard to describe. One jar of tomato & chilli pasta sauce, used as base for 2 pizzas. Who would ever believe that one jar could go so far? It` is everywhere, and they must have eaten some too.
I have cleaned up most of the evidence now.
I mentioned my itinerant teaspoons the other day, now I find after tackling the washing up that there are only TWO forks. I can`t pursue further enquiries now as nobody else is up yet, but the cutlery crisis will have to be sorted today!

Hi, all. We had a lovely trip to Ireland last week, now we're at DD's place .

Oh, God, is she messy! I can't be doing with it! Trouble is, it makes me not want to stay there. The bathroom is pristine, but there's clutter everywhere else. She follows her father in hoarding.

Hello to you all! Newish to all this although have been reading along! I am decluttering as I can as I am hoping to move area as soon as I am able to and do not want to take a load of carp with me! Seems to be an ongoing thing at the moment with me, I'll set eyes on something and think 'that has to go!' Lot of stuff to local tip, not good enough to sell or goes to my local clothing banks for charity etc. Have more stuff to get rid of but live on own and will probably have to pay someone to help as live in 2nd floor flat and have old furniture that I know noone will want as in bad condition, have already thought of charities or to give away but cannot get it down stairs easily before someone makes a suggestion!!

Well, when I was washing up after breakfast I saw the state of the cutlery drawer, so took everything out, washed them and the tray.

While I was looking for a clean sponge I sorted the sink unit and while I was putting the pans away I sorted the pan drawer.

I also managed to do one more cupboard, but she's got cross with me now. She works at two jobs, so has little time and I don't mind doing sort outs! Quite satisfying.

I think I'd better wash the inside of of my pan drawer and bits and pieces cupboard tomorrow. Before DD visits and does an inspection!
