My home is a mess

WOW, Mummybobble, that is brilliant news. Congratulations to your DD and your justifyiably proud Mummyship!!0

I am dead proud of my mum today - we condensed 2 dressers into 1, over 3 crates of crockery for selling on later. She collects cornish ware so a small amount is out on display and the rest stored in the cupboards.
My dad is the bigger hoarder out of the 2 so mum has decided to start on her stuff to boot him into action i.e. it's only his stuff left and gathering dust. Said dresser is out in the garden for burningAll that is gold does not glitter

Evening Messies.
Emms, I'm so glad to hear that your return to work went well, and your efforts were appreciated, alongside the understanding of how hard a shift would be after a long time off work. Scary about the boiler, but such good news that all is now ok.
FW, I can't believe that you've been in the vet's job for nearly a year. Where'd the time go? It is good to see you back, though.
YL, how lovely that your DS1 enjoyed his hols which in turn must have meant that it was more enjoyable for the rest of you.
Alec e - I love the idea of a not-holiday.:) Certainly sounds like it worked for you.
Sonastin, your OH is very, very naughty, but at least he's had the decency to try and make up for his behaviour. There's something in all men, I think, that doesn't want to grow up. What a stupid thing to say, given my own lack of inclination towards growing up. :rotfl:
Mummybobble, welcome. I really hope that your grant comes through ok. Whatever you do, don't despair about mess. As Buffy said, baby steps. Congrats to your DD on her exam results.
Jps, you are a very naughty lady. You could have actually enjoyed some of the hols if you'd gone to the GP when originally planned. I'm so pleased to hear, though, that you're now on the mend.
And Buffy, the 'long' summer hols are never long enough, are they? I just wish that those who go on about the long breaks that teachers 'always' have, could actually spend time in a school, seeing just how hard most of our teachers work, during the hols, too!
It's been very warm here for the last two days, but I did manage to get out to the greenhouse to clear it up a bit. It's really OH's domain, apart from my cacti, and there are several tomato plants fruiting well in there atm, but there were pots and seed trays spread liberally around, with plastic bags (empty horse feed bags are great for garden rubbish, but they do need taking away to the dump every so often!), bits of twine and raffia which we were falling over. While I cleared up and threw out superfluous pots, OH sat on a chair on the lawn, watching one of the cats. Then I got called because said cat had found something interesting. Turned out to be an elephant hawk moth caterpillar - enormous creature, which I 're-homed', and it's now busy devouring one of our fuschias before pupating. Have also sorted out craft materials and plans for craft group sessions until January. Go me! :T This all between going over to Mum's as she's had her bathroom re-vamped, although not a total re-fit. Same plumber as did ours and, to our huge relief, Mum's over the moon about it. Phew!0 -
Bearcub I know! But we still have just over a week left and boy do I feel better, so I will be making the most of it. To be fair, all accounts were saying bronchitis takes weeks to go away, so I thought the extreme irritation and breathlessness were just part of it.
I have elephant hawk moth caterpillar envy now! How lovely - I have been growing fuchsias for the last couple of years after hearing it's a foodplant for them. No sign of them yet in my garden, sadly!
MummyBobble what a hardworking and clever DD you have! Those are brilliant results and to be Deputy Head Girl - she's obviously a lovely young lady and you have every right to be a proud MummyBobble!
Emm well done on the garden tidying - I still have the "wild quarter" at the woody end of the garden too. I found out recently that bindweed is the larval foodplant of the white plume moth, which looks like a little white fairy flying around, it is so beautiful! So I leave a bit of bindweed to grow through a hedge now.
Greengoblin, good work! I have done a bit more decluttering from the boxroom, and will carry on tomorrow.
Alec, love the story about the lady pants! Unfortunately if an enormous pair of lady pants were found in my house, they actually would be mine!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

JPS glad your feeling better . Mummybobble welcome .
Good news this week my son has got a place at uni after deciding to go a the last minute. Its only up the road so he will still be living at home.
Emm glad the boilers fixed.
Alec I walk around in old pj bottems and oh old t shirts . I wont mention the hair. Im sure Iv frightened a good few postman in my time, lol.
Im still saying Im going to do the cellar and spare bedroom but not getting around to it. Really must concentrate on this before winter.
Bought paint for our bedroom as it was reduced. I wounder how long it will take for me to get around to actually painting it. Going by the rate Iv been going next to never, lol.
Take care everyone.0 -
Good Morning!
Eurghh, it`s early....didn`t have a really early night last night as DS arrived home with GF as well, plus a Small Dog who was in desperate need of a new home - so we now have the patter of tiny feet! Littly is rather lovely though, and Dafty Dog doesn`t seem to mind her at all. DS hasn`t made a mess yet, he may be on best behaviour for a bit after springing this one on us!

Morning Messies.
Please take care, Emms, that you don't wear yourself out. Early days and all that. Taking on a puppy?
Snookey, great news about your DS. What will he be studying?
Warm day, but cloudy. Not sure what I'll be doing today, although I have got to call round to a freind's house after seeing to the equines, as she's in Oz atm, and the couple who were watering her plants have had to rush off island. I also have to finish some church-related admin, which I've been delaying, only because I wanted August off. Still, the time has come.....0 -
Morning everyone,
I like the sound of the patter of tiny feet
Done the laundry, dealt with buns, put the washing up away, cleaned the bathroom sink, put some stuff away, put the bins away - this is my new thing. The first time I returned the bins to the garage DH was so surprised he went up and down the road looking for the bins before coming in to declare them missing. You'd have think I'd cured a disease by the look on his face when I said I'd put them away!
You know when one small thing leads to lots of other little things? That's me now. I thought it might be an idea to bring a small bookcase into the living room but when I did I had to clean the bookcase and I noticed how dusty the alcove was, then the skirting boards then the floor lamp that lives in the alcove. Not sure whether the bookcase is a good idea, it's just a cheapo Billy and looks a bit... cheap in the room but I could paint it and it should look ok. Can't decide...
Congratulations to all who have done well in exams and are heading off to university etc. Have a good day and fun weekend.0 -
Hi Messies!
Well done JPS (glad you`re still feeling & sounding so much better) GreenGoblin & Bearcub on de-messifying.
Snookey, well done your DS.
Well, another early shift completed - very enjoyable but tiring, so I was quite glad when it was time to go home! I`m off now till Monday afternoon, and not planning anything hectic if it can be avoided!
Littly-Dog isn`t a pup, Bearcub, she`s just small & dainty, not sure of her ancestry but sort of corgi/sheltie looking, not as chunky as the former nor as willowy as the latter. And she hasn`t done anything naughty while I was out at work, but DS & GF were here...she comes in from garden when she`s called, and you know what? I love her already!0 -
Ah, I thought you meant a youngster, Emms. She sounds like a poppet. I'm glad you're enjoying being back at work.
Think I've overdone the bending and weeding today, as my back is a bit painful. Purely muscular, and it's at times like these I wish we had a bath rather than just a shower.
Admin all done. Mind you, now I've emailed the newsletter, I'm going to be the teensiest bit cross if someone comes back to tell me that I have details of something wrong - because I've had so little input from people. My own admin has been done, too, in that the bottom drawer of the chest of drawers has folders to keep various papers tidy and, for a while now, I've been just putting the papers in, but not in their folders. Everything is now sorted again. Quite satisfying really.0
