I made an appointment for tomorrow morning, but then through the day today I feel so much better and have even done some gardening. If I have a reasonable night, I think I'll cancel the appointment. I get very impatient with illness that doesn't go after a couple of days, but bronchitis takes a goodly while to get over, I understand.

Emm, hope your shift went/is going well!

Bearcub, what is it with men and loos? We now have fancy new unisex loos at work, which all the women HATE for obvious reasons.

Hasty edit: The loos are little bathrooms (sans bath of course) not the cubicle in a row type, just to clarify!!

  • Hi Messies!
JPS, I hope you kept that appointment anyway, even if you do feel better it`s a good thing to get checked & get yer lungs listened to!
Bearcub, I hope your DD feels better soon, that sounds awful for the poor lass. Re toothpaste mess - most of the toothpaste fairy`s hits here are on people`s t-shirts etc., mine included!
FW - I`m impressed at you cooking bacon every morning, let alone mopping etc. while it`s doing! Of COURSE we remember you, and missed you posting too. Are you still doing work at the vets, & how`s it going?

Yesterday`s late shift was lovely, as was todays early. Lots of lovely `welcome back` hugs, and it was SOOOO good to be in there with patients again (rather than being one myself!) but I did feel like a spare part at first. I was fine with all that came up, but I didn`t expect to be so tired as I was after it - and again today. Sister has said I`ve done enough hours for this week and got my `bum back in the saddle` so next shift isn`t till Monday, a late, and we take it from there. To be honest I`m feeling quite healthily worn out, and glad of a bit of a rest before the next bash - my stamina isn`t quite up to a long haul yet, and this `phased return` thing is supposed to be for 4 weeks - I`m beginning to see why!

Glad it went well Emm, well done! Make sure you take your own advice and take good advantage of the phased return.

I cancelled the appointment - I know it would have been best to get checked out but I think I will wait till next week if breathing is still a bit dodgy then.

I didn't have the best night's sleep but have had a good day, managed to do a bit of mowing, with lots of rest stops, and planted a few things up.

There's nothing wrong with my appetite now, I've just snarfed two large helpings of spag bol! I must be on the mend.

Wildlife update - 10 long tailed tits on the feeders today!!

Emm glad work went well. Jps hope your better soon.

The cs picked up the charity bags yesterday so lots more clutter gone. Only problem no is my motivation to do any more clearing or chores in general.
My mood seems to be taking a nose dive.

    Im hoping that putting a list on here will help get me motivated so here goes;

    Bird cage to be cleaned
    washing put away
    ironing to be done.

Take care everyone and Ill see you later with an up date.
  • Hi Messies!
I`ve already typed a load of stuff, forgot to actually click to post, then got distracted and closed the page! Even more GRRR when it`s my own fault!

JPS, you are a naughty one, but I`m glad your appetite is better - always a good sign! Do you use inhalers at all? I was wondering if your gp might suggest this if appropriate and not already in use. Even for short term - just a thought.

Snookey well done on the de-cluttering. Tis a booger when the motivation dips. Mine was fine today, but I had to call everything off as the boiler is malfunctioning.
Boiler Repair Man is here, and is still doing battle with the dratted thing. Always Something!! I`m just crossing fingers & toes re the cost, etc., and hoping it`ll be sorted asap. Trying to think +ve, glad it`s happened a)while I`m here b)before cold weather starts again.
  • Morning!

Emm - knowing that i've got to make the breakfast everyday makes me get up early, and as you all know i LOVE cooking more than anything else so it's not a hassle for me at all!! Yes, i'm still at the vets, it will be a year in September since i started !! I'm still enjoying it and look forward to my afternoons in the surgery!

Middle daughter has a friend coming for a sleepover today, the weather looks pants so i'm not sure what they'll occupy themselves with, i'm baking, got flapjack in oven, going to make some buns and have an order for an apple pie! One of the girls i work with can't cook and she buys 'ready meals' off me, last week i made a spag bol for us and the leftover two portions i packaged up for her, sometimes she asks for cakes etc too! It's no extra bother for me and a little bit of extra cash in my pocket!

    Have a good day all!!

I'm back and I'm rebelling again! I have a messy house and I have a tonne of work to do and I'm sitting here watching Calamity Jane on More4 instead. Far more therapeutic! OH was like a spoilt brat in Germany any time we did anything that was what he wanted to do so it wasn't the relaxing break I was hoping for. I think he realised he crossed the line though and he's been trying to be an angel since we got back - it just doesn't come naturally to him! He's done more of the usual domestic chores around the house this week than I think he's managed all year. Still can't get him to do the bathroom though ;)

I've not been totally lazy today. The kitchen has had a good clean this morning so I'm in the mood for a baking session now. Trouble is we've only got one egg. I'm trying to get the energy to go to the supermarket but somehow don't seem to be able to move. There's only 25 minutes of the film left now so I might as well wait till that's finished :rotfl:

Emm - glad to hear you're back at work, and you're not throwing yourself at it too hard. Phased return sounds like a great idea. Make the most of it while you've got it!

Bearcub - sorry to hear your OH took after mine for a wee while. Why does it have to be so hard to ask 'em to help out once in a while. Hope he's snapped out of it again.

FW - nice to have you back

JPS - you're as bad as a fella. If you're not well, go see the quack. Don't waste your time making and cancelling appointments and trying to shake it off. Just go and get it checked out and be sure!

I think I feel another cup of tea coming on... :D
  • Just done the ironing mountain.

    Yay me!!

  • Hi Messies!

FW - I`m glad the vets job worked out so well for you, as well as an `outlet` for ready meals!!
Sonastin - Sorry your visit to Germany wasn`t so enjoyable, but at least your OH is being contrite so make the most of it!

    Chez-Emm?
Disaster Area!!! Boiler Repair Man failed on Friday evening. So we were going to call someone out from manufacturers Sat am anyway. THEN, I was just nodding off at something past midnight when the noise of a waterfall roused me - all pouring out of the poorly boiler. (fortunately it`s in the corner of the bedroom or might have gone un-noticed for a while!) After much running round like headless chickens doing a bucket chain DS managed to turn water off at mains and we finally got a few hours kip. Phoned boiler makers first thing yesterday and they are coming out on TUESDAY! Meanwhile I`m scared to turn mains water back on, and not even thinking of letting original repair man back into my house! We`ve got loads of bottled water so ok for drinking, plus buckets & bowls and 2 large plastic tubs for loo flushing/ frugal washing up. DS went to his GF`s yesterday am (as already planned) and DGD`s not here, so me & OH are trying to treat the whole thing like an indoor camping experience!

Water damage (thankfully!) is minimal, corner of carpet drying nicely, and I`ve now HAD to do a lot of tidying & Henrying upstairs! Just hoping the thing is fixable and Tuesday will restore some normality. Working the late on Monday so that`ll take my mind off it.

Hope you`re all having a better weekend than we are!

FW, glad you're still enjoying the job at the vet's, that must be lovely! I sometimes think when I retire (I will need to work part-time as I won't have much money) I would love to work in a vet's.

Assuming I make it to retirement of course! This bliddy bronchitis is really annoying. It seems to get better then I have a relapse - just had one today and it's bad enough to make me really commit to seeing the DR again this week. I know I've been a bit naughty but all the stuff I read about bronchitis suggests it's a bit prolonged, and I didn't want to waste anyone's time (or my own, I'm a lazy bum!).

Emm  what a stressful experience! I absolutely live in fear of flooding in the house and do the headless chicken myself if anything starts pouring where it shouldn't. I once tried to change a tap washer and had to ring a plumber in total panic as it hadn't occurred to me that I needed to turn the water off and didn't know where to do it! (I do now!) Hope it all gets sorted quickly for you.

Sonastin I know I have a bit of an excuse as I'm ill but I've spent four weeks being completely idle apart from a bit of garden pottering and essential hygiene. Enjoy lazy time, no one wishes on their deathbed that they'd worked harder!
