    Hi everyone.

    Your weekend sounds fun bearcub!

We moved the dining table into the living room so things look a bit more shipshape and luckily for me it's a great craft area! I'm not going to want to swap it back at this rate.

    Hiya both!

Our spare room constantly has my craft stuff in it, alec e, except when DD2 and bf come to stay, which isn't that often. I'd love to have a suitable table in here to use, but that's not easy to fit in. I've had a run on making cards, and can take a breather for a while now. Yes, the weekend was fun, if a tad warmer than I was expecting. I tend to forget that we almost always have a breeze here, even if very slight. The DDs and I are planning to go again next year, if Magic FM decide to go back to that venue.

Hi messies, welcome back Isis, lovely to hear from you again!

To say my home is a mess is an understatement... I've been poorly yet again, with a very nasty summer cold. I'm winning against it now but the cough is still very annoying.

With the summer approaching, I've let things go in the house for a few weeks now, then with being ill it's just got utterly out of hand.

I have no intention of doing anything about it while the weather is like this... I'm off out in the garden first thing tomorrow and while I might not find Dr Livingstone, I shall be wielding machete, lawnmower, secateurs and loppers to great effect before it gets too hot.

When the weather breaks (probably next week!) I'll do the house. Honest!

Edit: Buffy, and other school workers... we're here! Well I am anyway... I'm freeeeeeeeeeeeee! My friend has another week yet as her school has two weeks at Whitsun, poor love.

    Happy summer everyone!

    Hi Messies!
Jps, take care not to go overdoing things while you`re still trying to shake that cold off! Plenty of rest stops between lopping & machettying mind!
Buffy - ((HUGS)) - it must feel like a severe Detention when so many others have broken up already, but it`ll soon pass.

We had a slight change of plan here - DGD is here for the weekend after all, not going to other grandparents till Sunday. We had to nip to Mr M`s this morning for a few bits as she was DESPERATE to make a (kiwi) cheesecake - new skill acquired at school. So now I`m sitting here letting her get on with it, she`s even made me a cuppa first to keep me out of her way!
It`s still very warm here, but quite overcast. I still haven`t put LR curtains back up, but am going to do that next, then a bit of freezer tetris to find prawns & chicken bits for Thai green curry tonight. If it stays overcast I will attempt a bit of tetris-ing in caravan of Doom.
Hope you`re all having a good weekend. x

    Hi Messies!

YorkshireLass - how did the interview go? I was thinking of you, remembered the date because it`s between some birthdays. Now I`ve just thought, maybe they haven`t let you know yet - if so, fingers still crossed, and ((HUGS)) anyway!

Aw thanks, and the big new is, I got the job!!!! I am so pleased and so excited. They dont want me to start until September either so that gives me 6 weeks to a) spend some time with the boys and b) get the house organised.

Bits of clutter are starting to accumulate here and there around the house, you know how things get piled up in places and you dont really notice. I just worry that once I start my new job and have less time for housework this will become an issue between me and hubby like it used to in the old days when I was working silly hours. The big problem is that hubby and I see things differently. He can ignore the mess and I cant.

Ah well, off to find some storage boxes online so I can make a start reorganising the cupboard in my bedroom!

YESSS! Well Done Yorkshirelass! I`m SO pleased for you as you sounded so keen... and how brilliant that you`ll still have the summer hols with the kids and time to get organised.
I know what you mean though, about worrying that the house will go to pot once you`re out at work! I am having EXACTLY those thoughts myself anticipating return to work after being off sick for so long. (Should be second week in August, but I`ll be on `phased return` for a couple of weeks to help me slide back in! )
My OH is like that too, doesn`t seem to notice or mind mess - but to be fair he doesn`t make the mess either. DS is the worst, and he`s not being as bad at the moment - because I`m here most of the time to protest at the first signs of trashing!!

I`ve finally put the LR curtains up again! Also done freezer tetris and got tonight`s food under way. I`ve done a little bit of cutting/tidying in the garden too, but still not yet braved caravan of Doom... someone kick me please!

Oh no Buffy, I'm sorry :( I hope the week goes very quickly and painlessly for you.

Emm - I feel absolutely carp again today. There's no doubt about it, this is a flu type thing rather than a cold type thing. yesterday, I just pottered and rested, hardly did anything at all but now I'm sick and dizzy and need to lie down all the time again.

Congrats Yorkshirelass! As soon as I feel better, and the weather isn't extraordinarily lovely, I'll make a start. There are so many essential jobs, let alone the decluttering. This year I am determined not to leave it till the last week.

My house always goes to pot within a couple of weeks of starting work even though I say every time it'll be different this time.... :o

    Hi Messies!
JPS, It`s a shame you`re having such a carpy start to your hols. It may well be a viral thing you`ve got, but I have a theory that it`s also sort of work-related. However much you love your job, or maybe because you love your job! You went home ill one day, but went back in the next...you`ve probably put so much of trying to give your All into holding it together for the last few days of term and then feel you haven`t any All left! I`d suggest a few days of Planned Idleness , even if you find you`re feeling better. No driving yourself to `get stuff done`, just have a few days of resting and if you do potter at anything make sure it`s only absolute necessity or for your pleasure. Besides, it`ll give poor old Buffy a chance to catch up!

Not much done here today - looks like I`ve taken my own advice! Morning spent sorting DGD, all her stuff now packed and gone with her for the week, her mum collected her a couple of hours ago. I don`t feel like doing much else today, bit doldrummy...
Half-hearted sally into caravan of Doom, got clean LR rugs out ready to change (tomorrow) and Henry Hoover`s got a brand new bag. Kitchen pretty clear, baking a lump of pork & spuds in oven, and bins out for tomorrow.
    That`s enough for today.

    Afternoon Messies.

YL, well done you :T, although I wasn't aware of your job interview, having been awol for quite a while :o. I'm sure the job will build up your confidence again, and your 'social skills'. I'll have to read back and find out what it is you'll be doing.

What a shame to be starting your summer hols feeling absolutely rotten, JPS. I hope you'll be on the mend very soon.

Buffy <hugs>. I know there are reasons for you feeling emotional, and you need a holiday. The schools here haven't broken up yet, so you're not the last one!

Still really hot here. Had lunch yesterday with a friend, outside a cafe in an old fort, right by the Solent, and watched yachts in a regatta going past. We've been a bit like passing strangers recently, so needed time to catch up. She'd called me, and said, "I keep missing you." After I'd told her I missed her too ;), and we'd had a good laugh, she came up with the idea of the fort cafe, which I keep forgetting about. Then, in the evening, OH and I went out for dinner at our local pub. I is a very spoiled Bearcub. :)

De-messing - hmm, well, I did some dusting yesterday, and some washing. Today I put washing away, and did some more. Was just passing the kitchen door earlier, and then did a back step. Was that a shadow on the corner of the (stand alone) cooker or lots of dirt? Definitely dirt, but how, and why so much? The cats food mat and bowls are by the side of the cooker, and I can only assume that one or both cats rub themselves round the cooker while OH is dishing up their food. Dirt is now removed, plus some that had accumulated on the cooker handles. The kitchen generally needs a good clean, but it's much to hot to do so atm.
