I have a problem and hoping you guys can help. My bf has gone away to crete for 2 weeks, he has taken his mobile with him (tesco mobile network) he's had it unlocked so he can use it while over there. The problem we are having is that he is sending me texts which I'm recieving but i am sending him texts and he obvioulsy not recieving them, yet not sure why? I have 2 mobiles one is a 3 contract phone and the other is an O2 payg sent txts from both and still no joy.
there is no other way of me contacting him so would really really appreciate any help TIA kal25

if you are viewing one of his texts then if you select reply it should work (ie dont create a new message from his number in your contacts) that worked for me when texting from abroad

you may need to add the international code for crete to his number. you'll have to google it as I have no idea what it is.

Thanks already did this straight away without thinking ....the texts looked like they had been sent as there was no fail error only when he sent me a message saying he assumed his message wasn't getting thru as I'd not replied :(

I'd contact your network provider, it could be you have limits set on your handset or even the contract to prevent calls being made abroad. Some companies do this or have the handset set up like this to limit problems occuring with skyward bills being created. It sounds daft but its worth a shot, it may be obvious to see in the settings but tbh most mobiles aren't so black-and-white to alter!

It could also be the network provider holding the messages for longer: I was with 3, for a very long time they'd hold my messages for up to a week. Never knew why and it would appear they didn't know either, my friends would get a weeks worth of messages from me in one day! They'd assume I was mad or bored or both. It may have been the handset (LG Viewty-i) as I had multiple issues with this but could also be the network provider playing up and if so I'd be wanting to get some sort of apology/refund for the service I was paying for that they should be and are not supplying.

Hi guys thanks for replies...i have tried all of these but still no joy :( Even to the point of ringing tesco mobile as that who his provider is but still no joy :(
Now to make matters worse he thinks I'm not missing him...hopefully he'll realise when he gets back in week and half when he gets all the txt messages when he lands :rotfl: but for time being have to just carry on txting and hope they get through but not holding my breath.

Is he using a local sim?
If so, you can call him from a landline just for 2p/min.

If he is using the UK sim, what difference does it make that the phone is unlocked?

Meant that he had it unlocked to use abroad Grumbler. so yes he is using his uk sim but I still can't get through. Tried using both my O2 and 3 phone to text him and even tried ringing him but it doesn't even ring?? just goes straight to voicemail which suggests to me there something not right :( frustrated is not the word :(

A handset doesn't need to be unlocked for using abroad. For a sim card to work abroad it has to have roaming activated.

Not that this can help you.

As roaming is very expensive, I'd expect him to keep the phone switched off to avoid paying for the incoming calls.

Just wondered, (unless I'm missing it and its already been suggested/tried) know it will cost something but have you tried phoning your OH? You could try on the landline which may save a bit but if you did try with the mobile at least you'd know the mobile worked?
