I have had a pair every year for the past 3 years and really found them very comfortable but only after intitially wearing them in over about 2 weeks. Never really understood that as I have had them for 3 years, worn toe post sandals for the past 10 years yet every year its the same raw skin deal! (Doesn't happen with Birkenstocks so it must be a Fitflop exclusive deal!).
I have though incurred injuries, my mum seems sure its the fault of the fitflops (I had fallen arches) as she had a foot injury and blamed it on these as she walks alot and only wears them (owns several different pairs, is/was a big fan) but I'm not so sure, they don't support arches though being that they are so soft any inbuilt arch is just not strong enough.
I cannot wear them so much this year as a result (It was day in, day out and then when it got colder I just switched to the boot version!) but for not so constant use they are very comfy.
Where the toning issue comes into play: nope, sorry, doesn't work. They may make sone people ache but in terms of me no longer wearing them for the past 3 months, I've lost no tone. I didn't even gain tone/lose inches from wearing them for so long in the first place!! I would purchase them with the sole intention of weight loss or muscle tone, you'd need to add on a whole load more walking them you normally do to notice any difference and if you do that, well your likely to get similar results from any shoe not just the fitflop. That said, great for wide feet(though I've heard those who tried the sequined versions (electra) didn't fare so well in that respect) and do stand up well to wear and tear.
Oh and one last point: washing in a washing machine is fine but does make them crease far easier. Once they develop creases they don't look so pretty and also don't feel as soft. You notice this when you get a new pair and realise just how hardened the foam soles had become!0 -
If you have wide feet (eee) make sure you try them on first. Found I couldn't get my feet into them. HTH0

I don't actually like mine. They are too long in the front of the toe post and a bit plasticy. I much prefer my birkenstocks.travelover0

I found the same, my toes (especially my big toe) seems too far from the front of the shoe.0 -
I agree with Jenniewb. They are great shoes, but don't tone/exercise. I haven't had any foot or joint problems-not do I expect to. For me though, owning the electra ones in various colours- they are pretty and comfortable which is exactly what I wanted.
Incidentally I have fairly wide feet- not eee but wider than average- and they fit me fine.
I have never paid full price- and I don't feel they justify it- end of the summer you can pick them up for well under half price.0 -
Firstly I'll lay out my credentials.
I have at least 10 pairs of fitflops - toe-post, slide-on, cloggs, boots - short, medium and knee length, you name 'em I have 'em. Have they honed and toned my bum/legs? NO.
Are they comfy? Well... Yes, apart from the toe-post as I too have to break them in each and every spring. I have no problem with other toe-post sandals, but my fitflops are a nightmare! Why is this????
I'm also a serious walker - ie I walk up and down hills for fun - and a gentle stroll for me is 10 miles with each mile coming in under 19 minutes - at least 3 times a week. Yes I'm fit - have fitflops made a difference? NO.
I also have MBT and Earth sandals ( I'm nothing if not dedicated) and my advice is to wear what is comfy and what looks pretty - nothing else matters!0 -
I love my Fitflops. I even wore my bronze Electra ones at my daughter's wedding when my "posh shoes" became unbearable.
I also have Sketchers Toners. I wore toe post sandals for almost the whole summer last year and I've never been able to get on with toe post sandals before.0 -
Anyone know if it makes a diffference for people with SPD? I have heard good reviews in general0

I had SPD in my last 3 pregnancies (with it lingering afterwards and occasionally flaring up ) and find fitflops really comfy and I certainly have far less back, pelvis, hip and knee pain when I wear them. I am another who lives in them from april to november, lol, I've got pewter electras for this year and i'm really pleased with them (bought cheaply just before christmas). Boots often sell them so might be worth looking for online codes / extra points offers?0
