I'm just about to make about 100 of these to sell at our playgroup Christmas do. They always go down well.

The first post has the recipe - people tweak it to their personal taste but its basically the same.
  • I don't make them any more, but if I did, I'd use half-and-half butter and lard. Rub into flour using finger-tips, add cold water very gradually, wrap in cling-film and put into fridge to 'rest' before rolling out on to a floured board. Bake in a hot oven.

It is with great sadness that I must tell you that the lovely lady who gave us her recipe is no longer with us. However, I know that her mince pies will continue to be enjoyed for years to come. RIP my lovely neighbour and friend.

What a coincidence - I only searched out this recipe to use this morning.

I hope your friend knew how much her mince pies were appreciated and am sorry for your (and her families) loss.
