Cheapest SIM PAYG? Tesco 8p/c & 4p/t?
G'day all.
I am a very very low user and would like to get a 4p text and 8p calls/min on Tesco. However I can't seem to find the deal on their website... I only see: http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/tariffs/tariffs-payg.aspx
There is an option to get a "Free SIM" on the website, but I can't see any details of what that SIM offers. The double credit offer isn't really of interest to me as it expires after a month and I doubt I would ever use more than £5/month.
Are there any other SIMs, ideally with Tesco that are this cheap?

No probs. Once you get a sim from them https://www.tescomobile-freesim.co.uk/Default.aspx
Takes about 24 hours.
just phone customer service and ask to be moved to Payg Lite Tariff.

ASDA Mobile is the same pricing (8p per minute, 4p per text), however there are rumours of a price hike this month, although nothing has yet been announced officially. No free lunch, and no free laptop

If that proves to be the case expect others to increase.Operators threatened higher PAYG rates if the mobile termination rate was cut0 -

My Mum had to contact Asda Mobile customer services yesterday and they confirmed that the new rates are going to be 6p per text and 12p per minute. I don't know when this comes into effect though.0 -
That's even worse than rumoured-50% increase per minute! No free lunch, and no free laptop

Increase to 12p a minute. These rumours are getting worse.
Whatever Asda do end up doing (and let's remember nothing "officially" announced yet and CS staff are not always given the full picture) I'm pretty sure that TalkMobile, TescoLite, FamilyMobile and GiffGaff will all follow. 8p/call and 4p/text has become the base "value" tariff and as soon as one dares to increase, I reckon they will all follow. A jump all the way to 12p would actually match Orange's no-frills Racoon tariff with calls (although still offer a better deal with texts).
With more bundle deals likely to come along, these higher prices will mainly impact on the under-£5-a-month spenders. It's already the case that done right, a £5 top up gets you 25 texts and 100 minutes on Orange PAYG.0
