I would get the x10 mini pro, it is android and it has a very good camera compared to all other phones in it's price range (including most phones upto £300-400). (some sample shots) even has a dedicated shutter button.

android phones have access to the android market, and that is where you will find all the games, you won't be able to use any phone in the £100 range to play facebook games BUT every game you could possibly want should be in the android market (angry birds is free and can play on the x10 mini pro) plus there are loads of others.

and even though you cannot play facebook games you can use the facebook site/app to post updates/send messages/view photos ect.

as I said the camera is really good and has a flash, photos are stored to your memory card (upto 32GB you can buy) so you should never run out of space, you can also use the memory card to put music on the phone so it can replace your mp3 player.

and because it is android it can back up all your contacts and calendar to gmail so if your phone is ever lost/stolen you don't loose all your contacts/calendar.

it also has wifi and bluetooth, and gps so will geotag your photos you take and can also be a full satnav system if you want. (you may need a data add-on)

what I would say is if you can but it from the carphone warehouse (t-mobile £130) and ask them if it is an unlocked phone before you buy, if it is get it from them, the reason it is good if it is unlocked is because you can put any sim in you want, and because you can update it to android 2.1 which is better than the 1.6 it comes with.

only problem is that it is a very small phone therefore it has a smallish screen for text massages it isn't much of a problem though as the phone has a physical keyboard so the keyboard isn't shown on the screen.

I've been looking at this and will prob go with CPW as I prefer the idea of an unlocked phone. However, the OP did say they were happy with O2 so might be interested in this slightly cheaper deal posted on HotUKDeals.http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sony-ericsson-x10-mini-pro-black-o2-payg-o2-99-95-dial-a-phone-with-10-airtime-p/916871
  • Thank you all so much for your help and replies, it really made a difference and saved my sanity lol

Special thanks to jayme1, you really explained things in a way I could understand, it must have took you an age to go in to the detail you did, I really appreciate it, thank you xx And thanks to you I am now the proud owner of a x10 mini pro! (£119.99 + £10 top up O2 shop)

I've had a couple of hours trying to figure it out this afternoon and I think I'm gonna be really happy with it but please don't go too far away cos I'm sure I will have many questions to ask you over the coming weeks! (Run for the hills now while you still have a chance lol)

While making my mind up between all the phones I was showing my OH the choices and asking his advise and once he saw what was out there and the price they are going for he decided he needed a new phone too! He ended up with the T Mobile Vibe E200 (£34.99 + £10 top up from T Mobile) He's really thrilled with it and I have to say it's lovely, was nearly tempted to get that one my self but it's only a 2m camera, could have put up with it's other lacking's if it had been better in the camera department. The only thing is, he would like it unlocked so he can use his old O2 sim in it but I don't think thats possible till he's had it about 3 months.

Thanks again everyone and good luck to those looking to get a new phone, I know we only got ours today but so far we are both really happy with them.

See you all soon with a question or 2! xx ;)

I've not signed up for any of the cash back deals yet I'm sorry to say, can't seem to get my head round them for some reason...

But this is a fab deal for anyone else thinking of getting one, thanks for the heads up xx

My apologies. £45.45 is for contract phones. It is £6.56 for PAYG in fact.
