I think the problem is some people don't realise the hose can reach over your car,This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

However some filling stations specifically forbid that and will not start the pump if you try it.
Never, ever had that happen.

Not a local thing as I have had in 3 different places across the country. It may, however, be a local decision by each particular manager rather than any sort of policy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

never had that happen yet, i thought all hoses were so long so they could reach round teh car if need be,
seems common sense has gone out the window and been replaced by alot of hot air,
ive mainly seen it at a tesco pfs where people dont use common sense0 -

I've never seen that happen, unless it's an English thing, but as far as I know, in NI all pumps allow the pump to start if the hose is over the car.
And the hoses all seem to reach over cars unless you park too far away from the pump or have a giant car.carpe diem
