I applied for this. Earn £35k with excellent credit rating. Asked to BT £3000 and was informed couldn't make a decision online that it would be looked at withing next 5 days. Still waiting had no reply so don't know if I am getting it or not. Had a look at credit history and have a lot of searhes as I was looking for quotes for car isurance. Ddin't realise they would do credit search just for a quote. Going to give it till Sunday then I will apply elsewhere .I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!0

There are searches and there are searches. Not all are visible to other organisations. With luck these come in this category. Possibly only confirming your address rather than your creditworthiness.Had a look at credit history and have a lot of searhes as I was looking for quotes for car isurance. I was successful the other week when I applied for mine, and got an instant decision.
I actually got more than the balance transfer I requested which I was quite shocked about - well, not "shocked" as such - more surprised. lol
When I got my card it mentioned the change to the rate due to Risk Based Pricing, but I'm only using it for the BT anyway
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion

I've just rang them regarding my application, just in case I'm one of those who have been declined after being accepted. I spoke to a rather disinterested individual who said it had gone through ok with a limit of 9,200 pounds :eek::eek: I nearly fell off my chair. I have a salary of 16k with pre-existing debts totalling 7,500 (inc overdraft). I actually have 1 late payment on my equifax report from Virgin Media but all the other accounts are the same as my Experian ones so they can see my exposure.
My accounts are all green zero's obviously no defaults , CCJ's. Even so they are being rather generous here aren't they? I can't wait to shift 6k from HSBC :rotfl:0 -
That does seem Alot ! Perhaps they feel you'll make them money ! Credit card companies score differently to the likes of bank overdrafts, some do actually seduce people, if they feel you'll abuse the card, and incur interest. Just be careful to be strict with it... And well done !0

Thanks. As long as they get there money I guess it shouldn't matter to them how I manage my debts given low salary. I've been declined 6 times or so in 18 months due to high debt to salary ratio these guys just seem to care about the green zeros.0

Well from from day one of the transfer they earn profit - with the balance transfer fee. Any missed payments / interest hike will only serve as a bonus to them.0

I applied for a Barclaycard Platinum on Sunday - got declined. First time I have ever been declined for a card
I earn £43K, never a late or missed payment on any of my accounts
The message said they would write to me to tell me why but it was based on their credit search with equifax.
I viewed my Experian Report recently which was fine, only one credit search in the last year when I got a Halifax card last september
Would there be something different on an equifax report than the experian one.
Whatever the reason I am clearly not going to be able to get any more cards to BT for a while so am stuffed now my 0% ends on my other card

They are free to accept you onto a different rate. But I thought once they've opened a new account they are not supposed to change the rate for 12 months. Perhaps someone else can chip in (in a bit of hurry right now!)0 -
Hurried or not, Mr chappy, you are indeed correct.

And not to change it more than every 6 months thereafter.
It may be that the rate hasn't been changed as such, but twister's been accepted on at a higher rate than the headline figure and it's just been explained in an odd way.0
