I only have a 'fair' credit rating with CreditExpert (high balances but no late payments etc) my salary is quite low@16k. I've applied for a BT 1000 to my amazement I was accepted! 20 months interest free :j
Having been stuck with HSBC Card 6k maxed  and them putting up their interest rate constantly (currently 21.9%) I'm more than happy to start shifting this out. My questions are what is my limit likely to be? I assume it would be at least the value of the BT (1k) and will they let me transfer more if I get a limit over 1k?

They see you as a money maker

Not bad though considering they say its normally for 20k plus income.
I reckon you'll probably get more then the 1k - there's probably some calculation based on what most cardholders don't clear by the end of the 20 months! (time to look again!) No point them giving you 1k if they think you'll clear it and make them no money.
Whatever you end up with send the rest from hsbc start saving on the interest

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
Barclaycard has a reputation for opening new accounts and then immediately closing them.0 -

Yeah credit expert see you as fair but who gives a sh*t what they think as they won't be the ones lending you the money.
I think you can safely say your limit with a platinum card may well be over 1k, also these days I think credit payment history comes up the top when credit scoring ahead of how much you earn.
A good payer will always come top in my book.
And as snow tiger as said wait until you actually use your card b4 getting your hopes up!!0 -
I got accepted last September for a BC platnium - although I went for the 0% on purchase for 16 months.
I dont have a great credit history either, but i do earn just over £20k.
The credit limit they gave me was £1500.00, although at the time I had £1500.00 debt with a HSBC overdraft.
to my understanding, you can balance transfer as much as your credit limit.
Even if you dont get the credit limit you want to start off with, pay 3 payments ( if you can over the minimum) and apply for a credit increase in 3 months.0 -

You can not B/T all of your credit limit normally 90%0 -
I've just been accepted for the Platinum, after asking them to do a £7500 BT to Egg Money, they said I've been successful, does that mean I have got at least £7500 + 10% credit limit, or that I was successful, but they may just offer me £1500 or something at 0% for 20mths?

CRA is always a sh*t no use to community. Their data is so unreliable and there are a lot of mistakes. There are a lot of evidence have been posted in this forum.
Me is one example. I was rejected once for credit card application which according to the Credit card provides based on my credit rating (e.g address not on the electoral vote). In fact, I have six credit cards from most hogh street bank with high credit limit.Yeah credit expert see you as fair but who gives a sh*t what they think as they won't be the ones lending you the money.

I've just applied to natwest for a balance transfer from barcarlycard. After I entered the bt amount it gave me the card limit - so i could see whether this was enough - obviously I could decline at any stage.
When I took out a barclaycard last yr - I didn't know my limit untill the letter came through the post.
I would assume that by giving details of you bt within the application they have provisionally agreed a limit to encompass the balance transfer- someone may have a better experience on this than me.
Remember though it will be only for 90% of your total credit limit. And don't forget the 2.9% transfer fee added to your balance.0 -
Be careful, I was accepted for that card online, received it and everything was fine for a week. They then suspended the card and asked me for more information (bank statements) before re-enabling.I only have a 'fair' credit rating with CreditExpert (high balances but no late payments etc) my salary is quite low@16k.
