Dunno where basmati comes from, i'm gonna check again tomorrow in Morrisons for some, i bought 2 kg of long grain and its crap.Owed out = lots. :cool:0

Japanese rice is short grain ...We use pudding rice from Sainsburys if we can't get hold of any Japanese variety rice ( Koshihikari or Nishiki are common types)
If you eat with chopsticks the good thing about this type of rice is that it is a bit sticky and is easy to pick up.0 -

i think maybe if its getting the same everywhere, is the nuclear contamination in Japan has affected rice fields, and no more raw rice is being produced - could be wrong, just want to know your views too, i really hope i can get my basmati by the end of the week.
Why are you blithering-on about nuke contamination when there is the far more immediate and serious issue of toxic heavy metal contamination in rice from many countries and a general denial or inactionon the problem from the governments concerned.
