Is your supermarket running out of rice?

As a weight trainer i buy and eat a lot of rice, i was in Morrisons this morning to get my fortnightly 2kg pack of basmati and they had none! Not even the small half kilo bags were there nor the 1kg bags, all they had was brown and long grain and this was quickly disappearing too, the shelves were totally empty :eek:

Is it the same where you are? It could just be the Morrisons running low but that is doubtful, i think maybe if its getting the same everywhere, is the nuclear contamination in Japan has affected rice fields, and no more raw rice is being produced - could be wrong, just want to know your views too, i really hope i can get my basmati by the end of the week.

I've just been to my local Morros and they too had low stocks on the shelves of rice. I just thought they hadn't filled them up.

My Morrisons had plenty at the weekend.
And to avoid your strange scaremongering, Japan isn't a main producer of basmati, India and Pakistan are.

China and India are the biggest rice producers. Although I think Thailand is the biggest exporter.
