I think Lotus eater has been feeding his/her Sunflowers banned substances.

Are sunflowers supposed to be self supporting ? I have had a couple of my small ones keel over in strong winds....
I think the tall ones require support, the smaller ones whould be ok, depending on your garden and the wind.

No banned substances :D just an overzealous primary school teacher sowed them too early and I struggled to keep it alive, DD having lost interest by then :)

I thought it had a bit of a head start. :p When was it sown?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
LE told us it had been started early from the beginning. I remember that. :)

Mine haven't grown an inch. :(

Mine's almost to a metre, but seem to have stalled! I have put canes on mine just in case a strong gust knocks them over. I don't want to lose the only 2 remaining....

My giant ones are slightly smaller than my marigold. :(

    Assorted red / black ones:

One in the other side of the garden, where I had a spare bit of mud, slightly windburnt:

And one between the rhubarb & gooseberry, just behind the celery:

I ran out of space to plant any more. :p

Surely any that pre-date the start of the competition are not elegible for entry? :rotfl:

    Crack on then. :D

I don't doubt that you could, given the height of mine, and the fact that the soil they're in isn't much cop. :p
