Have just come back from camber sands and it was awful, the flat was clean but the bed settee was rusty and a killer to sleep on. we had a classic apartment as well. my 4 yr old asked to come home within 10 minutes of arriving. we had a 4 night break but only lasted 2 nights. we had not nice neighbours as well, they came home at 2.30am shouting and singing every night. Not my idea of a holiday. was really gutted as this was to be our main holiday.0 -

Just back from 4 nights at Prestatyn Sands. I now really think I'm a snob. We had to ask for another chalet after the first night. The bed settee was an instrument of torture. Managed to get a two bedded chalet instead, we had to pay £10 a night extra. Both chalets felt like their was a film of dirt everywhere. Could not walk on carpet with bare feet it was just too dirty. We went off exploring each day and only used camp at night. The entertainment was average, the bar area floor was just sticky, the place was filled to the brim with England shirts and shorts.
I would never go back to Pontins even for a free holiday. As I said it really brought out the snob in me.0 -
The floors are always filthy. I've said before, we take a few pairs each of those blue overshoes with us and put them on each time we go in.
Sometimes you have to just distance yourself.
I have OCD and noone can come in my house without removing their shoes and washing their hands as I am a germ freak. however I just accept at pontins that thats how they are; I wipe all surfaces, use the overshoes, and as I have a bad back we always take the mattress off the springs and put it on the floor for a firm base!!
There is so much to do for the kids that they love it. We've had 4 free holidays there and wona nother one for November this year and am trying to get one for august with my clubcard vouchers.
As for england shirts and shorts!! I'd moan more if they were all wearing Portugese kits! That's life! The Ritz Pontins aint, but if you're sporty and join in with stuff its a very cheap (or free!) break.I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. If your having problems using the code and paying with Tesco vouchers keep trying on the phone with different operators
I promise Ive used them with no probsMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
we had a freebie at southport this year and all 7 of the chalets were spotless - we walked on the carpets no problem. one of our group has OCD and she was fine - she even booked a £60 holiday while she was there. she did clean her chalet when she arrived, but the rest of us just wiped the kitchen surfaces with antibac wipes.
is southport cleaner than the other pontins sites, or were we just lucky? the graffiti on the wallpaper was shocking though. yes the place was full of people in football shirts swigging cans of stella but it wasn't a problem. i complained on another thread about the swearing, but i think you get that wherever you go - certainly at the haven in prestatyn. i think there would be people like that everywhere you on, unless you hired a private villa.'bad mothers club' member 13

Do did you get it for £60????
I have rung 5 times now. And today I didn't even mention the rebook code, cos Id asked so many times. I just asked for the lowest price. The bloke was really nice and tried every single code available. he himself mentioned the rebook code and said it was £292!!!
I eventually got one for £150 , and as it is only £37.50 worth of clubcard vchr and I have £200 worth I thought stuff it, lets do it. So the kids are thrilled.
