in my windows update today there was an available update which was to install internet explorer 9. i currently have ie8. when i changed to that i didnt like it much for quite a while and felt i may have got it too early. so i'm wondering should i get ie9 or are people having issues with it? should i wait until patches for any faults have been made?
ps i know many recomend other web browsers. please dont do that here. i am just a after advice on whether ie9 is better than ie8 or not? i dont want to get it and find it is worse.

what should i do? 32 votes

Chrome is the most secure. IE9 is more secure than IE8 but the interface is quite a change.

Try it out, if you don't like it just uninstall it.

why uninstall a more secure, updated version of a browser that will be on the computer anyway?

definately upgrade to IE9, it is more secure, and has full h.264 HTML5 support, and if you install googles webM plugin you also get full webM HTML5 support. that makes it the only browser that supports both formats, which is good because there is a quiet 'VHS/betamax' war between the two formats at the moment.

use this website to see which video formats your browser can play

you can also add a simple adblock into IE9 using a TPL list from this website

but personally I just use FF4 and it works perfectly fine, but it is possible that if you do ever come accross a website that requires h.264 HTML5 you will need to use IE9 (or safari) to view it.

    GC v11
    FF v4.0
    IE9 X86
    IE9 X64

Fastest browser is IE9 X86 version thanks to CHAKRA JIT (not present in the X64 version).

    Despite that, I am Chromium.

Tried ie9 rather than 8 for a short time recently, but found it wouldn't open several of the sudoku sites I use.Got onto the websites OK(puzzler and reader's digest),but then tries to open the easy and medium options and ended up with a little square box in the middle of the screen which I couldn't fully open.Went back to ie8 and all becam OK again. Not sure if it's a flash, java or sonmething else technical problem, but I'll stick with 8 for now.
