Good places to holiday with young children

We are looking to go away for a week in July/August this year with a 3 year old and 1 year old. Any ideas of good places to go? Need to have lots to keep them entertained - they love things like farms, zoos etc.

Places i have been thinking of are - lake district, yorkshire, newcastle/durhum area?

We stay near Edinburgh and i wouldnt want to travel anymore than about 4 hours

thanks so much for any help you can give me.

Theres loads to do in the Lakes and Northumberland Durham

One of my kids favourites is Walby Park Farm near Carlisle. or you have the north east coast in Northumberland which is fantastic love Alnwick Castle & Garden, lots of great quite beaches.

You could check out the daily mail breakfree holiday offer as some good parks there that will have entertainment on site for your little ones. A lot of the £20 per person breaks and good sites will be booked up, but think they may still have some availability.

We have just returned from our first visit to Ribby Hall Village near Blackpool and it was excellent, our 4 year old loved it, the grounds are well kept and clean and the cottage accommodation was reburbished last year and was spotless. There are loads to keep a 1 and 3 year old happy, fun swimming pool with slides, seperate pool for very young children, 2 outdoor play parks and an indoor soft play area plus at a small extra cost various sporting activities, horse riding, boat hire, bike hire. We will definately be returning.
