We have just returned from our first visit to Ribby Hall Village near Blackpool and it was excellent, our 4 year old loved it, the grounds are well kept and clean and the cottage accommodation was reburbished last year and was spotless. There are loads to keep a 1 and 3 year old happy, fun swimming pool with slides, seperate pool for very young children, 2 outdoor play parks and an indoor soft play area plus at a small extra cost various sporting activities, horse riding, boat hire, bike hire. We will definately be returning.

Scarborough area was great for us when our child was young - loads to do and see in the area.
Stayed at Cayton Bay caravan park, Yellowtop lodges, Dacre lodges and a few others that i cant remember at the mo.
  • We are Edinburgh too (kids a couple of years older) and Northumberland area has been great for some holidays. Close enough to not have too much of a drive but far enough so it feels like a break!
Heatherslaw Light railway is great if you have boys into steam trains, beach at Bamburgh, Alnwick Castle is great, Whitehouse Farm Centre has stuff to keep kids busy if nice weather and there is a play centre in Alnwick if it is wet. Some lovely places to get a self catering place, and even better if beside the beach.

Might be far from Edinburgh but Gullivers World in Warrington is really good. Kids theme park with loads of rides. Go there every year

As mentioned above, alnwick garden is a really nice place to go. Also has water fountains where your kids get can get soaked. My daughter loved it last year. Tempted to go again this year

If you are looking for holiday with your family, then go to the Lake District, here you can get all the facilities as per your family requirement. It’s a most demanding holiday place in UK.
