The cost of feeding 4 cats on mix od dry/wet food
Comments

The process which turns milk into yoghurt literally digests the lactose which is what most cats are intolerant to....so it is generally safe to feed small amounts of natural ( not sweetened! ) yoghurt. Full fat version is good for them ( if not our waist lines! ) as it provides a good source of protein and fats.
You will however get a much stronger dose by using a dried probiotic, either veterinary such as fortiflora or any 'human' brand.0 -
Another vote for Classic from me. No cereals and the new labelling has a clearer ingredients list. For dry I feed Arden Grange. 2.5kg for £8.160

Well, as I will be having 5 and not 4 pretty soon - planning Classic too for wet and not sure what to do with dry as before I tried Orijen, Taste of the Wild and few others from "top shelf" but my cats seem to prefer .... Go Cat. They love kitten Go Cat and recently got adult one and mix it with Taste of the Wild as they did not like the taste of the Wild by itself

A bit off topic but - ermmmmm how many times per day does a NORMAL cat poo?
As I am permanently attached to a scoop and go through masses of cat litter I just wonder how many time do other cats go? Mine seem to poo 3-4 times per day each :eek:0 -
If they are pooing that much whatever food you are feeding them at the moment cant really be suiting them as you are getting that much waste.0

I would be very wary of feeding GoCat long term as I would worry about Urinary tract problems, especially with the boy.
I know you are worried about making the sloppy poop situation worse by swopping and changing food....but if you have a stock of Animonda etc then personally I would be alternating that with the classic day by day rather than using one up and moving to the next. For me this gives a better chance of balanced nutrition as each food contains different meats and nutrients.
3-4 poops a day is WAY too much. I would say once a day if fed on wet food, once every 2/3 days if fed on raw!0 -
Wawwww - that is an eye opener, once per day each would be so much better on my scooping.....
I need to feed a mix of wet and dry, only got Animoda to the end of the month at 1 tin per day between them all so will be changing this to Classic at again one tin per day between them.
Do not like the looks of GoCat myself but they do not seem to like/eat any other dry food that I have tried

also regular worming
sounds like too much to me also - although kittens do seem to need/want more food than cats0 -

mix the dried together until it's only the `good' stuff - when there is no option & they are hungry they will eat what given. Firmness is essential to establish good habits `bend the tree when it's young'.:eek:0 -
yep mine go once a day and that is on a 50:50 mix of wet and dry0

They are regularly wormed (drontal) and I do mix Taste of the Wild with Go Cat - they pick the Go Cat and leave the other...for days.
Then they all follow me around and miauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu for food, need ear plugs with 4 of them miauuuuuuuuuuing like that.0
