Wet food - Smilla (zooplus, high meat content and grain free) bulked out with butchers classic (which is grain free - tesco) - 60-70 pounds

Just started my little guy on Smilla, he seems to like it and it was much cheaper than animonda carny/bozita on Zooplus.

I see that my other thread where someone accused me of wanting to sell my cats has gone?

That is just amazing, really amazing - how nasty.

Thanks a lot to whoever reported it is against the forum rules without READING it.

Lovely.

I nearly spat my coke out at the poor puddy tat with the twig up his nose...

found a link for you GR

have you been to any of the cat food sites to see if there's any free samples on offer?
Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.
They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.

tx for the reviews on butchers classic - I always assumed that anything Lidl sold would be rubbish!! :rotfl: I know, call me a snob, I feed myself from there quite happily but not the cats. Mind you, I once got them Tescos cat food - it looks really disgusting and of course they loved it!

On the note of sensitive tummies, although expensive, Royal Canin Persian bics are apparently the same as sensitive, and good for poorly tummies even for weened kittens.

The person who had cats with runny tummies - yoghurt is a good idea. Also, have you tried giving them panacur- it treats parasites such as guardia (can't spell that) which other treatments don't.
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

Yes Butcher's Classic is one of our favourites.
Felix is uaually way more expensive, but it's on a 2 for something deal at Tesco, so that's what we're buying this week.

I hope my earlier post didn't look too harsh, but I hear more and more about animals having to have special diets and I don't think it's a coincidence that in recent years, vets have become major specialist pet food retailers.

Going way off topic, I despair of what the coalition of the Kennel Club, celebrities, big business and people who breed dogs for profit have done to dogs.
What real animal lover can enjoy seeing those trembling, bulgy eyed scraps of things that are dressed up in diamante and burberry and carried around in handbags?

I hope cats aren't going to suffer a similar fate.

:(

Thanks for this info - can anyone state what percentage of meat etc & is it a good wet food for cats (ie no additives/fillers etc).

Well, Fred just helped himself to about half a tin of green peas which I left on a sieve to drain water from there in the kitchen....

What am I going to do with THAT greedy cat?

You would not believe how greedy he is for absolutely everything - apart from dry cat food.

When I feed them tinned food I have to stay by them as Fred eats his and if allowed would eat the other 3 dishes.. He does not eat - he kind og gulps everything in like 2-3 mouthfuls, I do not think he even chews his food, he just kind of swallows it.... so he finishes before the others even start....

You think that's bad...my cat once ate a ribbon right in front of me...too quick for me to grab it! She survived but now I feel I have to check the floor etc every day in case she eats something else!

Btw someone mentioned yoghurt, afraid that's a no no due to cats being unable to digest cows' milk.

It was actually a recommendation by the vet to give a small amount of natural live yoghurt for it's probiotic properties. I prefer to use a powdered probiotic anyway but it even endorses giving yoghurt on the description blurb of the veterinary probiotic I use!

http://www.vetscriptions.co.uk/LACTOB.html

It is also widely acknowledged that antibiotic therapy particularly for digestive disorders will not only destroy pathogenic bacteria but will also incapacitate the normal gut flora. This will be replaced naturally over time but is the process is speeded up with the supplementation of probiotic bacteria. Hence the common recommendation by practising veterinary surgeons, is for pet owners to feed natural yoghurt to their convalescing cats and dogs.

Fair enough then! Wish I'd known this a long time ago as my cat suffers as well!
