I am on my daughter's computer. On my own computer I have been infected with the above fake anti-virus all day until I managed system restore by going in as an administrator. I have looked at the advice on the sticky and am running ccleaner. It says I should register to clean up the problems. Should I do this? I am also going to run Malwarebytes to make sure.
The virus disabled everything and I am nervous about going on internet banking now.

The sticky recommends ccleaner but it costs 24.95 which i can't afford. Is there a free way of doing this? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Also I got this virus by clicking on a photo on this site. Should I warn them on the thread? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

The real ccleaner doesn't ask you for money to clean problems, so you probably have a fake tool unfortunately. This happens as malware can hijack your browser, and redirect you to false products designed to take people's money. Please don't pay for any software in fixing this problem, as there are no tools that cost any money needed.
Try out all the steps in this:

and let us know how you get on with it, or if you need any particular step explaining further. I would uninstall Malwarebytes on the infected PC, as that might be a compromised version. Follow the steps and redownload it as they give it, or use this link:

What photo gave you this infection?0 -
you can download ccleaner from here its a free version.https://www.filehippo.com I would also disable system restore scan again with malwarebytes and your antivirus program and then reenable system restore0

ccleaner will not remove this infection....you need to follow the bleeping computers guide , put the Rkill program and a fresh version of malwarebytes on a usb drive or burn to Cd on a clean pc or laptopEx forum ambassador

do not use the infected pc for accessing secure sites until we advise its clear , there is a good chance that I will advise you to run another malware removal tool after malwarebytes to ensure that its all been removedEx forum ambassador

So am I still infected even though I managed system restore? The photo was on a thread in moneysavers arms and I clicked on it to enlarge it. There were quite a few photos so not sure which one. Will find a link if you like but dont want to infect you orthis computer come to that. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Yeah don't use your working computer for it. You can direct us to it from the infected computer if you send it as a private message, but it's not the main priority for you.
We won't get infected as we'll be using a sandboxed browser, along with hosts/trusted zone blocks and a decent firewall.0 -

Sent you a pm with a link to the page.
I had my Virgin Media Security and firewall on but still got infected with this. I don't have a USB or CD. Should I try this anyway? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
