    I 2nd that

New computer - restore as to 'as new'

If you dont want to (though you really should) -
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

I tried Hijack This last night and it wouldn't work.
Thanks for the tip on over coming that problem.

I am still scanning with Stopzilla at the moment - still listing 15 infections.

I don't mind restoring it all, if that's the best thing.

    Is Stopzilla a con?

They want 20 quid to remove 16 infections.

Hijacks easy to TICK and FIX for the OP

If I find anything deeper it becomes harder for the OP to sort through

Plus, as has already been said - it would be far better to reset everything back to day 1 with it being so new

    Uninstall stopzilla

Your be advised to not just run programs willy nilly if youve not been asked to before hand

Im not sure if thats the entire hijack log

Whilst pressing the SHIFT kley, RIGHT CLICK on hijack.exe and RUN AS (admin) and post that log

Makes sense; I'm relatively new to interpreting all three diagnostic tools (HJT, DDS, Hijack Hunter) so am keen to see others interpret them, in this case what you found in the DDS log.

    Ive removed Stopzilla.

I get this message when i try and start hijack this: (it wont cut n paste, so ive typed some of it)

For some reason your system denied write access to the hosts file.
If any hijacked domains are in this file we may not be able to fix it.
