I have a chaffoteaux and maury celt star CT water heater and I am currently havin problems with it. I have phones a few plumbers but have been told differents things as to the problem so would like some urgent advice please.
My water heater is connected to just my kitchen tap and the cold water is coming out as normal, but the hot water pressure is very low.
The ignition light is on and the flames in the heater come on after a few seconds of turning the tap on.....the water also does come out warm but it is very slow.
could someone please advise me on what the problem is and how much it would be to fix??

I would suggest that it sounds as if the heat exchanger is scaled or blocked.
Do you find the water heater shuts off and overheats as well?0 -
THanks for your help.
The water heater doesn't seem to be switching off but yes, I am finding that the water is coming out a lot warmer than it used to when it was working properly. Would the heat exchanger have to be cleaned then or do I need a new part etc?0 -
If yours is more than ten years old, I would say you have had your money's worth and should think about replacement. Some people would go down the combi route, combing the central heating boiler with a water heater in one unit.
The fashion is for combis, but you don't have to go that way.
I replaced a Chaffoteaux Britony II with a Rinnai Infinity 16i water heater, and so far so good.0 -
Just to let everyone know that I sorted the problem myself....the problem was infact not the boiler at all...it was the tap that was faulty...I believe the cartridge had gone for the hot water side and after replacing the tap, Everything is now working perfectly..Thanks to everyone for their help...:-)0
