You don't need to contain compost with pallets, or anything else. Just pile anything that ever lived into a heap somewhere out the way and leave it be.0

The low growing white plant,perrenial candytuft?
12th picture-if the silvery grey plants on the left have furry leaves,they are lambs ears http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plant_finder/plant_pages/885.shtml
and the plant with bluish grey leaves on the opposite side MAY be the herb sage (smell)
