Don't think that'll happen unless you get in touch with them.

12 Months ago, the local branch manager phoned me out of the blue at 6:30pm on a Friday evening the day I deposited £35k into my current account to see if he could help me!
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.

I'll be moving the best part of £40K out of LloydsTSB when the rates change. Wonder if I'll get a phone call :)

On 27th June, I will withdraw all except 5K.
I will probably transfer to Northern Rock if the rates will be as they are now.

    Yup, that's my current plan.

PPL mega-cost saga seems to have led to other major banks following Lloyds lead (nil appeal) - so hopefully this will avoid LTSB being at a competitive disadvantage...leading to better interest rates for savers in months and years to come + job security for more Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland workers!

I've stuck £15k in the NS&I index linked issue, while it's still available.

    Lloyds' loss. My gain.
  • Don't forget - today is the day that the upper tier (4% interest rate) is removed, so remember to keep your balance(s) below 5k (between £3k & £5k) to get the best interest rate possible for this account, if you are keeping it/them open.

Do we still have to channel through £1,000 each month, presumably?

Yes, you'll need to move the £1k around. My top tier is going to the Newcastle 4.2% (180 day notice) Premier Bond (now closed). I'd already got the NS&I certs which is also a good place IMHO to put the money.

A little while ago someone very kindly posted a copy of the Incentive Saver offer letter onto one of these threads. I've looked through a few and now cannot find it. I used it at the time to open an Incentive Saver, which was easy to do, but now I would like to give the phone number to someone else, but I can't find it. Many thanks in advance.
