We were visting family in Fleet at the weekend and my SIL made the mistake of telling me that there was a big Primark in Basingstoke.
    Big...? The place was HUGE!!!!
I could have spent an absolute fortune, if it wasn't for the fact that they seemed to have size issues. Apparently, if you're a size 12, 14 or 16 you're to run around naked!!!! :rotfl:
Joking aside, I managed to pick up a few bargains.... 2 pairs of pj's (the flannelette variety) reduced to £2, some slippers £1 & £2, black linen trousers £9 (they didn't have white in my size), varoius tops £2-£3, some 3/4 length combat-style trousers (that seem to come up a size or 2 small and which I must remember to take back!) £7, some sandals £4 (they are faulty, the stitching has been missed at the back) I fell in love with a leopard-print playsuit at the top of the escalator (£7) but the only one they had left was the one on the manakin - and at only a size 10 I would probably have struggled to get my big toe into it! The bargain of the day had to be a black barrel handbag reduced from £9 to a £1.
Never mind.... Off to Corby this afternoon. :j (Taking my mum was the excuse of the day!) Will see what "deals" they have.

It is true what they say though - you do pay for quality, but if you buy from Primark with an open-mind as to how long the items will last, I don't think you can go far wrong.

I buy all my hand and bath towels from Primark and they've lasted about three years (so far) and still wash well.
    Normal people worry me.

I bought PJs for my two boys in Primark, they are Brushed cotton, traditional style (button up rather than a t shirt top) these have washed and worn VERY well all winter. So pick the style of jammies!

I work with disabled children. Any lunch time I could be covered in anything from beans to... other things. I love primark for that reason!

ooohh i dunno if i should hug the op really tightly or be rather annoyed at directing me back to primark lol! :):):)

I havent been into primark since last July when i became pregnant... so off to the train station baby and i go for a trip into Manchester. The primark there is much better than in my local town...no doubts i will be back later gloating about my purchases! :j:j:j:j
  • I am a massive fan of Primark!

I am going travelling in the Autumn so obviously I am on the hunt for affordable clothes that I won't mind ruining!

    Bargains so far:

Vest tops - £1.50 each - loads of colours and designs (plain, stripey, polka dot) - River Island wanna charge £5.99 for a vest alone.

Flip Flops! Primark ones are my Staple every year... £1.50 a pair? really can't go wrong really. Again loads of colours and designs - Had a black and gold pair last year and they are so comfy.

Jewellery - a pair of those earrings with feathers dangling. Saw them in Republic for £5.99 yet in Primark I saw a pair exactly the same for just £2.... such a bargain.

Smart Suits - I have bought a light grey suit jacket, trousers, skirt and waistcoat and I think in total it came to about £35/40 (Cannot remember exactly as it was 4 months ago!) They wash really well!

Practically every piece of clothing I have comes from primark, right down to underwear and socks. Since I was about 15, and cottoned on to how cheap things are, I've been going to the huge Manchester one religiously.

I went for some summer clothes last weekend. Picked up some nice cargo shorts for £4, jean shorts for £10 and some jeans for £8. One thing I don't tend to buy from Primark, though, are shoes. They do wear away too quickly. Do people remember the coloured tennis shoe style that was all the rage last year, Primark had around 1000 different colours and they were about £2. They're the only primark shoes I had that have lasted a bit. I wear them when I just need scruffy shoes, like when working in the garden.

I bought the Breo style "sports" watch, with the one-piece jelly strap... It has lost over an hour in time in a month!!!
Not much good when a watch can't tell the time!

Otherwise I LOOOOVE Primark. I have a huge collection of vests that cost £2.. fab for the gym (and longer than similar ones in H&M).
Actually... I think 90% of my current wardrobe is Primark!
Even jeans for under a tenner!

Went in last week and picked up mens themal layers tops to be worn while traning, keeps moisture in and expels heat. I believe the 'japanese' fabric is the same one used in similar tops made by Nike and Adidas

Were priced up at £10 each but had been marked down to £2

Suffice to say they flew off the racks
