Incapacity to Esa switch over Question

My Mum gets Incapacity Benefit and her normal review date will be in 2012, I was wondering with the new switchover and everyone being sent for a new medical, Will they wait till her normal review in 2012, or will she get sent for one this year.

I am a bit confused on how they are doing the switchover, as have heard different opinions all over. One saying they will wait till your normal review or some saying they will send you for a medical before this year finishes.

Thanks

Not everyone is being sent for a medical. Most people will be called at their normal review time. There is no way they could see every claimant this year.
    Gone ... or have I?

Thanks for the fast reply. Looks like she'll be called in 2012 then.

How do you know when your review time is ? My hubby was called in a few years ago and hasnt been called back in yet ! How often do they normally do it ? And do they actually not bother with some cases even sending a IB thingy form ?

After your husband had his last review he should have got a letter telling him when his next one is. The person doing the review decides when the next review date will be. If you want to find out the benefit office should have it on file and they will tell your husband if he rings up and asks.

We found out on the reward letter that was sent, It said Next Review 2012.

Odd thing is a friend of mine got her reward letter and it never said anything, maybe the new letters don't have a review date on them.

some claims under ib are exempt so dont have a review date on the award letter info is gathered from the gp consultant etc however these claims will be retesed under esa as there are very few exempt cases or esa

I also don't have an expiry date on my IB and last November my DLA was made indefinate. I have emailed my local MP for clarification.

I dont have any expiry date, since I was diagnosed in 1993. Ive never been called for a medical or anything apart from one in 1994 where I was stated to be 'Disabled for life'

But why have you emailed your MP for clarification?, do you assume he knows anything more than how to fiddle his expenses?

I'm very new to this site, and was just looking for any info on the IB/ESA switchover myself when I saw this question.

I wondered exactly the same thing myself, about if people would be re-assessed on their review dates or not, so I rang the benefits office that deal with my claim yesterday. The chap I spoke to told me that everyone who had been given a review date had had those dates erased from their files and replaced with a date in 2020 to allow time for all of the re-assessments to take place. He told me that people will be reviewed at random, and this could mean it will be next week, or in 2 years.

I assume what he told me was correct, because like I said I rang the DWP telephone number that came on the letter about my last review for the advice.

It's not really what I wanted to hear, as I don't relish waiting for the postman every day for the forseable future to see if he brings the 'dreaded letter', but I thought you may want to know what I had found out myself yesterday.
