    Hand Baggage
From April 5th we have updated our pricing policy for hold luggage and for oversized cabin baggage that needs to be checked into the hold.

There are those who see EJ`s "updated pricing policy" as enforcing the rules but I

would suggest that there is a difference between `enforcing the rules` and `enforcing the rules together with a hefty price rise`.

Isn`t this site about MONEY SAVING?

    h

OK, Horace, what were the prices charged before the 'updated pricing policy'?
Let's see if we agree that it is a 'hefty price rise'.

Of course this is a money saving site.
That's why those of us savvy enough ensure that we don't take hand luggage bigger or heavier than the maximum dimensions.
So we'd NEVER be in either of these situations:

    • At the airport check-in desk: If you purchase a bag to be checked into the hold and/or we notice that your cabin bag exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions, you will be charged £25 per bag
    • At the boarding gate: If you go directly to the boarding gate and your one permitted item of cabin baggage exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions you will be charged £40 and your bag will be checked into the hold

and consequently would never be out of pocket by having to pay additional fees because of not following the airline's rules.

So ANY rise in charges (hefty or not) such as the ones that appear to be upsetting you so much are irrelevant to most of us.

The people who DON'T read and follow the rules and then get caught will come on here bleating about how much a 'cheap' flight actually cost them - and get zero sympathy.

Perhaps posters might be more aggrieved when carriers start charging passengers by size?

    Not me!
    Bring it on!

My hand luggage is always within the dimensions allowed and within the weight limit.
My hold luggage is always within the weight limit.
I'm not overweight and am quite small so I personally wouldn't be 'aggrieved' at all.

They are still the best in the business when it comes to hold baggage, having no weight limit. It's pretty easy to measure the dimensions at home and these are the standard cabin bag dimensions anyway so I see no problem here!

    Cabin baggage?

And I know this is a moneysaving site - but we booked flights with Easyjet last night and after some debate, decided that it would be better to just pay for a hold bag than worry if our carry-ons were too big (90% sure - without having measured recently - our normal carry-on we take on AA, Virgin, etc. with no issue is just that little bit too tall for Easyjet), we couldn't fit what we wanted to take in them, we would be short of space on the way back if we bought much while away...sometimes to us it's worth it to pay a bit not to have to worry, we think.

It is not just about luggage size it can make a great difference to your arrival to be able to go straight through without waiting on hold luggage at the carousel

yes of course, but that's a different issue...we normally fly trans-atlantic and normally have at least one checked case each...so waiting for luggage is a non-issue for us - plus we're not on any schedule when we arrive at our destination in this case...for us, having the space and weight available to us is worth paying a bit extra even with the need to wait for the case to arrive and the carousel scrum that will no doubt ensue.

Ah, Pollycat, your post indicates, to me, that you were `Teacher`s Pet`? Right?

Walk on the wild side for once in your life, or are you a straight up and down person?
Do grow up, don`t be pushed around.

Try thinking about the VOLUME of hand luggage NOT its dimensions, but, perhaps you may not have had an original thought in your life?

    Do keep up.

i recently got a karrimore bag, comes with rucksack shoulder straps handles and looks like a holdall (easyjet had no problems)

    http://www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor-global-merridian-40-rucksack-719050

its slightly longer than the dimensions but you can squash it up as i never overfill my bags, and worst case scenario, i take a jacket jumper out adn put it on :0)
