easyJet appear to be tightening controls on hand luggage.

... so does anyone have a link for a case that meets the Easyjet regs for carry on thats reasonably priced?
I bought this bag from Argos for use on Ryanair. Measures 56x39x20. It's a bit colourful though, and they don't do a plain one. But if you search on ebay for the same thing you will find plain colours and other patterns. It's really light, and holds a lot.
It is a little noisy with the plastic wheels, but is light enough to carry even when full.

The height limit with Ryanair is 55cm, not 56.0

Ah, Pollycat, your post indicates, to me, that you were `Teacher`s Pet`? Right?
Walk on the wild side for once in your life, or are you a straight up and down person?
Do grow up, don`t be pushed around.
Try thinking about the VOLUME of hand luggage NOT its dimensions, but, perhaps you may not have had an original thought in your life?
Do keep up.

Oh, Horace, what a plonker you are.
If you think about the VOLUME of your hand luggage instead of the dimensons, no wonder you're in such a panic over the new Easyjet rules.
If you're a REAL moneysaver (and if you're not, you're on the wrong website) you'll think about following whatever policy an airline has to avoid being charged.
Grow up? Don't be pushed around?
Oh, I get it!
You mean "totally disregard an airline's policy and end up paying for the privilege of taking hand baggage larger than they allow".
Wow, Horace, that's REALLY grown up.
I see you're not going to tell us what the charges were before the 'updated pricing policy' so we can see if we agree with your statement that it is a 'hefty price rise'.
I may be 'teacher's pet' (don't know where you've got THAT from, though) but I'll be the one laughing as your oversized bag (that'll be DIMENSIONS, not VOLUME) is taken from you and placed in the hold and the check-in guys says, "Horace, that'll be £25.00. Thank you so much for ignoring our policy and generating extra profit for us, you mug".
Or even better, at the boarding gate " Horace, that'll be £40.00. Thank you so much, you're an even bigger mug".
Walk on the wild side?
I'll walk on whichever side is not going to cost me stupid money because I've thought I'm clever (aka stupid) enough to get away with a bag of larger DIMENSIONS (that's not VOLUME) that's allowed.
I'll say it again (as you seem to have missed the point entirely):
That's why those of us savvy enough, ensure that we don't take hand luggage bigger than the maximum dimensions so we would never be out of pocket by having to pay additional fees because of not following the airline's rules.
And you think I can't keep up!0 -

I like my Sub Zero G case which I got from Matalan, shown here on
the site:

It's really light, and actually measures (my own personal measurements including wheels and handle etc.) 55 x 37 x 23. If you overpacked it I'd watch the depth though as it will stretch!
I must add I've not taken it on a flight yet (booked in to go to Malta in early Oct though :j) but have taken it on lots of weekends away.0 -
dont go by dimensions on case as sometimes they are not v accurate or dont include wheels or whatever. Ryanair sell one its about £60 but you can onlyget it if you buy a flight
Having looked at every suitcase in existence(I didnt want a bag I had to carry) I was wallking thru Debenhams one day and they had a new one for about £45 that fitted the bill exactly. Their make is TRIPP. It is about 2cm less than max Ryanair dimensions on either the length or width, I cannot remember but otherwise utilises the maximum dimensions. Weighs about 3 and a half pounds . Samsonite do exact dimensions but their cases cost arm and a leg
Have just done Easyjet to Madeira and back, no one at check in asked about our hand luggage at Stansted or Funchal but, I do agree, its best to play by the rules.0
