Personally I never bother commenting :-)

Funnily enough I was thinking about that today Claire & I couldn't really go for the sympathy vote. If I do enter I normally just put something daft.

To be honest I think those comments under competition which don't require a comment (I take it that's what you're talking about) are just a bit stupid.

If says Mrs X enters a competition and then comments underneath saying "I really want to win, my mum is undergoing treatment for cancer and she would love this.".

If she is then genuinely drawn as the winner, the promoter may feel put off announcing her as a winner, or even re-drawing because it would look like she's won because of the comment she posted if you see what I mean.

I personally never comment if it's not required.
    2009 Wins = £833
    2010 Wins = £6,597
    2011 Wins = £7,083

    £2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
    20 in 2012 = 4/20

I agree with this. As well as the "sickness" ones , amongst the most annoying are those who insist on putting something like "I need to win this pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!"

Get a grip will ya

Not a fan of sob stories... But, i see them all over facebook.

Another thing that bothers me is the "liked and shared" comments, when most of the time they are not needed and not asked for.
I "liked" a page today and the company's status was something like, "no need to put liked and shared because we know who has liked the page." lol.

Each to their own i guess...

I've done a few of the comment comps but usually just put I'd love to win because I really want whatever it is, which is obvious really else I wouldn't be entering, lol!! I do find some of the sob stories a bit embarrassing though :(
Don't really tend to do the vote comps either, hardly any chance of winning so don't see the point. They annoy me because the best photo/comment or whatever it is you're voting for never wins it's just the person with the most friends or the one who has begged the most votes! Too much effort for me ;)

I was thinking this exact thing when I was comping today. The pity party of blog comments remind me of Monty Python's Four Yorkshiremen sketch, and I think pimping your ailing nan out for a box of biccies is a bit much.

My thoughts exactly, I very rarely vote for those, it's not a fair competition IMO
