anyway requesting some advice/help, in all my jobsearch focus i have completely forgot about going to Canada in 2 weeks for a friends wedding, they have asked me to do a speech which i am very honoured to have been asked, now Im 41 and single and never been wrapped up in the whole wedding thing so just wondered if anyone has ever been married or had a speech what was it about it that made it so special? i was going to recall some travel tales we shared and want it to be really special so does that mean making it personal or keeping it formal taking into account the other guests.
Not that i even think it will matter as i will no doubt blubbing like a baby when i give it! Its the day after the royal wedding and someone suggested i joke that after attending that one i have rushed over to this one but i don't know if that's funny or belittling their day. i guess i just want to get the tone right and not be inappropriate. I can do that on the evening after a drink ha ha. Any nuggets of wisdom greatly Appreciated.
I will eventually get into the nack of having a conversation on here and not just post random deviations.

I'd say keep it personal, and put it in some funny anecdotes of some times you had together. I think the royal wedding joke would be quite funny. Maybe you could end it with a bit about how you're so pleased for them and wish them all the luck in the future etc?

Thanks lily, just reading you saying the royal thing would be funny has even me an idea, i am doing a couple of photos of me and the couple cause we met travelling and have some spectacular shots of us together that i was going to get blown up large and i could doctor a magazine shot of William and Kate with me blatantly standing next to them which would be quite funny and use as part of the photos when i am showing them rather than just an indulgence, i might have a look at some pictures in mags and newspapers and even stick my face on the queen who is bound to be on one standing with them, and make a joke like that wasn't meant to be in there!
I think i was looking at it too seriously but a wedding is a celebration and a bit of fun and humour will make everyone laugh and shows I've made a bit of an effort, otherwise it would just be me quoting Corinthians 13 or Rumi or that thing from 4 weddings, so yes, personal it is.
Tulip hope you feel even better and are comfy even if away from home. Must be nice getting all the hugs and well wishes so hope that has cheered you up.0 -
