Hi all,
I think it was some one on here, but can't honestly remember, who suggested making 'rice' from cauliflower, but I cannot for the life of me remember who it was or how I would go about doing this. I've got a massive bag of cauliflowers my OH bought from the market & there's really only so much cauliflower cheese I can stomach
Thanks LL0 -
Hello lovelies  Made bolognese last night, from scratch as usual. Inspired by you people and watching 'Superscrimpers' (which makes you lot look like spendthrifts!) I added loads of veggies, tinned cannelini beans and lentils to pad it out and - it was NOT VERY NICE! Too many lentils - oops :embarasse Going to add gravy next time we have some and call it mince stew
Loving the thread, keep up the good work. 'Call me Dave' Cameron ought to consult MSE before making all his nasty cuts :rotfl:0 -
Lanny, could you make some piccalilli from the caulis?0

Another reformed telly addict here. I'd say to anybody thinking of giving it up - go for it. Mind you, it's been a bit easier for me as I've moved abroad and the tellie here is pretty feeble.
Entertainment now comes from DVDs, free (legal ones only of course) film downloads and watching comedy clips etc on youtube on the 'full screen' option. I also listen very occasionally to R4 online and Choral Evensong on Radio 3 on Sundays (not sure why, more for reasons of homesickness than religion I think).
Oh yes and without tv there's so much time to do that thing with my girlfriend (no sniggering) called 'conversation'...'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
Here's the RC recipe http://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/pams-piccalilli/
You need other veg too, but I guess you could make it extra cauliflowery (is that a word?)

Those of you that have given up chocolate may not be bothered by this.
However, the price on the wrapper of a Cadbury's Finger of Fudge has increased in price from 17p to 20p over the last week.
3p in one week. What the heck happened there??‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

When I was low carbing I just cooked the cauli and then mashed it loads to a rice like texture.
Really pleased with myself as DDs are beginning to turn their noses up at the shampoo I get for a pound a bottle and other brands are around £2.69 for 200 mls. With the speed that 3 (sometimes 4) daughters can empty bottles of shampoo etc it gets expensive. Found a company on Amazon that is selling better shampoo brands at £1 and does free postage :j
Half a dozen bottles arrived this morning for just over £6!!!!
Have just ordered noodles, scone mix, cake mix, pastry mix, flour, cans of coke and posh cereal bars from approved food and it should arrive tomorrow - have saved loads as stuff was a third of RRP or even less.
I pointed out to DH that prices were going up so fast "It was war!" to try to beat supermarkets at their own game and looked so cross he backed away!;)
Yellow stickered herby turkey at £1.69 instead of £3 is defrosting ready to make a pasta dish etc tonight and lamb mince at £1 is also defrosting to make either lasagne, kofta kebabs or home made burgers tomorrow.
Once DD is home all day on study leave I want freezer and cupboards full of proper food bought at bargain price so money goes further and we can treat her now and again or get revision aids etc.
If I can stir myself into action might make twinks - if not , might make jelly instead and have it with ice cream.
Hug to all"This site is addictive!"
