Hello Snowflake
- I'll put the kettle on (carefully puts just 2 cups of water on to boil.....)
Picked the first blueberries of the year this morning - a whole 48g :rotfl:Just for a laugh I went on mysupermarket.com and priced them up. All of the big 3 have got them on "offer" at the equivalent of £8-89 per kg. My little crop is therefore worth 43p  and it's just about the amount I'd add to yoghurt for breakfast. Can't say I've actually saved the 43p - would never have bought berries at that price!"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Snowflake, you have certainly been through the mill havent you? Glad you are coming out the other side through sheer hard work. I would love to go to Uni but now looking at your post the Montessori school sounds even better, do they take 50 year olds :rotfl: My dd went back to school after homeschooling and we found a fab school for her which encouraged her until she blossomed into the amazing woman she is today.
My garden is not doing well, I think a mixture of lousy weather and me not having much time with OH being so poorly is the cause. Next year will be better and I havent written off this year yet. Got a couple of bags of compost the other day (now I have an income again) so the broad beans out of the greenhouse will be going in pots away from the bugs. i think gravel paths will cut down on the weeds next year and make life easier. More planning is definately needed but most gardens area work in progress arent they?
Lets hope Mardatha is just busy doing other stuff, I havent heard from her either.Clearing the junk to travel light

Just had a reply from Mardatha, she has a chest infection which has knocked the stuffing out of her, but she's OK. she has her new windows in too. xIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Hi Snowflake. My neice goes to a Montesorri school in England and is doing well at it. She is 8 now and has been in that 'system' since nursery. I can understand you wanting your DS to be in a nurturing education system after home schooling.
Sunny weather here. Flash fry steaks out for DH's tea to have with salads. Might have a wee bit myself but still eating mostly veggie food. Time of the month though and always crave meat, preferably raw. Have a piot of brown organic rice cooking - I bought it at a food coooperative near us - and that will do as salad accompaniment for a couple of days. Trying hard to use less electricity.
Need to get some groceries in tomorrow but going with my list and menu plan so don't plan on parting with much cash. I use cash for food and it's good to actually hand over the money. When it's gone it's gone.
Younger dog has her booster next week so keeping some of the weekly grocery money to go towards that.
Hoping peeps are having a good Saturday.

cross posted JackieG. No wonder Mardatha has been feeling a bit low spirited lately. I had a chest infection a couple of years ago when we first moved back here and felt really unwell. It has been damp and cold for so long. Mardatha - when you are well enough, I hope you manage out for some sunshine - it really has arrived!0 -
Thanks for that Jackie. Not surprised about the lurgy after the rotten weather she's been having.
Mardatha, if you're lurking, get well soon - we miss you :grouphug:"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Errgghh, have a splitting headache from the cold and keep coughing my guts out. And that's just a cold. No wonder Mardatha's MIA if she's suffering a chest infection. If you're reading this, hen, get well soon.
Visited with Nan until after lunch and stuff and chatted. We don't stay too many hours at once as she's a very old lady (88) and likes to nap in the afternoon. She also likes Formula 1 and the odd nip of brandy, but that's another story.......:rotfl:
I am very very chuffed at the moment and I'd like to share the reason. I have an extremely small flat and like sewing, so storing the kit was a problem which I'd resolved with boxes (ex-baby-change boxes from the bootsales) which was the least-worst option.
Howsomever, I was getting a little tired of looking at them in my sitting room so had a good hard think, ran some measurements and made a wants list of dimensions for a sort of v.narrow chest-of-drawers/ tallboy/ cabinet with shelves type of thingy. I also wanted it to be in pretend-mahogany to fit in with the other bits of pretend-mahogany in the same room. Sort of a case of veneerial disease.Well, I don't live el plusho and it would have to be at charity shop prices, so I was resigned for a long search but today, in my hometown, I have found IT.
For thirty fine English pounds saved from my ex-chocolate habit, I have a DVD storage cabinet with sneaky bits which pull out at front and sides, a drawer at the plinth and lot and lots of 6.5 inch deep shelves. And the exterior dimensions are an exact match for the space it has to stand in. Result! The only fly in the ointment is that I can't have it at home until the folks bring it up in their car when they make their planned visit next weekend, but I am thrilled.
See, not sophisticated but easy to please. Gonna go off and play with it now (sad but true
)

Well done Grey Queen :T and I just love the "veneerial disease":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Sorry about the cold, and yes, Mardatha will be pretty low if she has a chest infection - I used to get them every winter and they are rotten. Not had any for a couple of years - must be all the fresh stuff I'm growing/cooking/eating?"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
:hello:Get well soon mardatha, sorry you are feeling _pale_0
