A couple more storage jars arrived this morning so I sorted out three top kitchen cupboards and got things organised. I also sorted out tins kept in garage and put away a dozen Fairy liquid bottles I got from amazon.

Tried a Jamie Oliver pasta recipe for tea- went shopping specially for extra bits for it and slaved over the blasted thing- it wasn't bad but no one is in a rush to have it again:eek: Think it is a surprise to DDs that just because something is a tv cook's recipe it does not mean everyone will love it.

The local Mr S is moving all the aisles around so you can't find things - and when you do they have shot up in price, even in a week. It is getting scary!

Hugs ( gentle) to Larumbelle, Reverbe and anyone who could do with one.

Has anyone seen Mardatha? She hasn't posted for a couple of days. Maybe the unexpected sunshine has gone to her head. :D

JJ - about the black treacle, it lasts for years and years! Sugar naturally dehydrates so bacteria cannot thrive in the tin, and I dont ever remember having to throw out a tin of golden syrup or black treacle for that reason. Personally I use it to add to chilli and tomato based sauces as it adds wonderful depth.

This is the reason for the warning on the tin

Catching up! Hugs and kind thoughts for anyone who would lke to have them:A
Had a cheap tea from some leftover gravy,2 sliced mushrooms and small stale baguette. Put gravy in Remoska with chopped mushroom, sliced baguette into 4 thin pieces, sprayed with olive oil and sea salt then some chopped rosemary put into pan,Cooked for 10 mins which soaked up gravy and crisped up crust.Yum!Could also do this with a grill x

Thanks for your support guys. I had my gin and choccy and woke up feeling much calmer today. Now I'm just going to focus on fixing the things here at home that are broken or falling apart, and not worry about the bits of me that are ;)

Huge hugs Larumbelle, I surely do understand the mixed feelings of getting a diagnosis. There's that certain satisfaction of finally knowing what it is, followed by the "oh poop" realisation that it isn't going anywhere and you'll have to deal with it. My step dads mother had crohns, and she used to take a few pills but experienced no issues once it was managed, so fingers crossed they can get you all nice and stable quickly.

Catznine, I've frozen homemade hummous quite successfully, it didn't really change in consistency for me. I also have in my freezer currently plain old frozen chickpeas, which I cook from dried and batch freeze.

As for all you anal bag packers, over here in Australia they pack all your bags for you automatically at the checkouts, but they do it very very well, and separate everything appropriately. Have to say, they're much better at it than I am, and I've never had anything damaged at all. When I was in England I felt quite stressed at the checkout as things flew at me with speed and I tried to bag them safely, felt a bit like a gameshow challenge.

:D That's so spooky; I've envisaged that very thing myself. Are you sure you've never been in my Mum's loft?! Our cot is up there (baby was 4 when we came to this house), plus bags and bags and bags of yarn, bits and pieces and all sorts of misc. I dread having to sort it out one day when they pass over. I've told Mum that she cannot shuffle off this mortal coil until she's knitted up every last scrap of yarn (hence she'll until she's well over 100 I reckon. Hope so anyway.:rotfl:)

Scary that there are two of them :rotfl:obviously seperated at birth to be honest! My Mum too still has my cot my baby is now 12 and the likelihood of my brother having children is in negative numbers if I am being honest! I think she actually has the pram somwehere up there too - but at least you know the house is structurally sound if it can take all of that weight and still be standing for years after!

As for my house we dont have any loft space that can be used for storage so that works out quite well as far as I am concerned - its an enforced use it or lose it policy to be honest! DH trawls the charity shops for books so every so often I will have a sort through and they will go back to the charity shop to be sold again, otherwise we too would be drowning in clutter.

Thanks Charis, I was aware of that although to be honest I have never had the issue myself. I store my black treacle in the garage where it is cool, so I dont know if that is why we dont get that?

I am glad its not just me then that feels that way! I too have a system for packing my bags, and have trained my boys into doing it the same way......I tell them that they have passed their NVQ in bag packing :rotfl: Their Father however is another story completely and is banned from helping pack bags at any point! He thinks its funny and has commented several times at the checkout only to be told that no there is a system (usually by female checkout staff I have to say!). For this very reason when I get to a checkout I usually pick my staff with care so that the shopping doesnt come flying down the till without care nor in the order which it was put on the belt! Like many of you bags are packed according to where they need to go when I get home......nothing wrong with it at all.

Larumbelle - pleased you have a diagnosis at last. ALthough its a shock its a positive step forward as at least now you can tackle the problem rather than trying to identify it, and you can get appropriate support and medication.

Bluebag - nice to see you back again :)

Its not just Mardatha thats missing, ftm has been awol for a few days too as has IOIWE (hope everything is ok hun). Hopefully they are all just enjoying the sunshine and not under a mountain in the loft!

Weather looks glorious today, its already warm out, so after being Mums taxi today the garden could do with some attention. Potatoes need to be lifted today and I am going to risk planting the last lot (they are leftover anyway and I have fleece). On that subject redlady I hope its not you personally that has blight! Sorry my sense of humour came to the fore last night when reading your post!!

Hugs to all that need them x
