Maybe this is a good thing in that it's "ammunition" for your grievance hearing? Having a diagnosed condition is surely better (I do hope you know what I mean by "better" :o) than having a collection of symptoms which could mean Crohn's Disease but which, without the diagnosis, could be argued by a defensive employer as being all in your imagination? (I'm not saying they would, just that they might if they were as unfeeling as they have appeared thus far.) I suppose look for the silver lining is what I'm trying to say, even if it does seem a bit dull and tarnished just at the moment. :grouphug:

I forgot to say that if you have Crohns you are covered under the Disability Discrimination Act, so work are required by law to make any changes that you need. I'd speak to your Occ Health rep/Dr as this diagnosis will change things, hopefully for the better.

My doctor said the same! She said I would have been covered anyway, but it wouldn't have been so clear-cut so they might have been more inclined to chance it. But she said Crohn's is covered from day 1 of diagnosis. Occy health are already on my side, work aren't listening to them either... at the moment.

But yes, silver linings are good. At first I thought I was numb but I am still very calm and I think it's because I do see the positives - as I said, I'm glad I know what it is and that we can start treating it right away, and that I can go in on Wednesday with an actual diagnosis instead of a flurry of doctor's letters.

Thank you all so much for your support :grouphug: I don't know what I'd do without you. Oh yes I do... I'd be cleaning my bathroom instead of keep coming back and posting here :rotfl:

Couldn't agree more Kimitatsu- the reason this forum is successful is whilst we may not all agree with each others opinions we do respect them and we would like to keep it that way. Another one for the "ignore list".

Been to Asda for the weekly shop - had to buy custard for a trifle I'm making (well I could have made the custard but no time) and was horrified at the cost of Ambrosia - 98p a tin:eek: so the trifle is having Asda's own custard at 30p. What a difference!

When I got to the till there was a teenage girl packing bags, she was raising money for a trip to Bolivia. I was happy to give her a donation but I so wanted to say "here is a £1 but please don't pack my bags". Tins on top of fruit, newspaper rolled up and so on but when she was squeezing the life out of my bread to fit it in a corner of a bag I did have to say if you want to just leave it i'll finish it off.
Does anyone else really dislike someone else packing their bags or am I just a control freak??

Nope - you arent a control freak in my book:)

I have often wondered why a lot of peeps pack bags in all-sortsa-random-ways and often with the heavy stuff on top. Once I realised that if anyone else packed my bags for me there was a good chance the heavy stuff would end up on top and "batter and bruise" the more delicate things - then I have made sure after that that I line my goods up in order of heaviest first. I still have to do a bit of waiting sometimes - when I have specifically arranged my basket (if its that sort of checkout) to put the heaviest stuff nearest the operator - as they often take things out randomly.

So - I certainly make sure that tins and jars go in my bag first, then things I intend to put straight in a fridge or freezer asap, then "delicate" things (like fruit and salads). I've had too many instances of bruised produce that I havent been able to eat before it goes off not to do things this way..

Sorry for my previous negative post.

I do think it is a shame that students of today are not encouraged by their institutions to consider what they can do for their community. Young people have all the energy and zest and could manage to help out locals as well as study.

....and, on the plus side, there are going to be good and bad in any context. So - in fairness - the tally in my case ranges from the good (ie lots of activities, retail outlets, etc geared to students in my area that I have also been glad of - as it suited my tastes as well for quite a few years). The bad side being - I've frequently had drum practice going on near my home. In my own particular case - the good tends to outweigh the bad - and, right now, I'm taking advantage regularly of a particular activity that has been organised by a particularly keen student and have been glad of another chance of learning a few "bits and bobs" to supplement knowledge of one of my particular interests and have a bit of a sociable time with like-minded peeps. So - my own personal ratio of good to bad over the years has probably been about 80% good to 20% bad - so on a cost benefit analysis its basically been to the good for me personally.

I guess we will all vary on that and for those who might have liked to go to university/were capable of it of ourselves - but didnt - for whatever reason - then it is good for us to at least have some sort of chance of access to various things that we would otherwise have missed out on totally.

EDIT: ...and, at this point, I think it would appear to be necessary to say that, though I DO sit there and think "...if I had gone to University then things might be very different...." I think we must all counterbalance what we do and don't have in our lives to see where the "tally lies" on the positive/negative spectrum. So - okays...not going to University is a big negative BUT, on the other hand, my own personal "positive" is a father who positively thinks the "sun shines out of the backside" of girls (including his daughter for some strange reason...)/has total integrity/huge level of unselfishness and I have never ever caught him out in so much as a white lie (never mind anything stronger) in all the time I've known him. So - dont no-one feel sorree for me - because I've got a huge plus there and I know it...

Sooo... I was right, there was something on my test results.

I have bile acid malabsorption and they're 99% sure it's caused by Crohn's disease.

I hope now you have a diagnosis you can get all the treatment you need. xxx

We actually had a pleasant day weather wise today. Not warm by any stretch but no rain. :j
Getting a little concerned about the business cash flow as it's so tight this month. Next month will be fine but I am really relying on clients paying bang on time in July. And that almost never happens. Savings are sparse atm after necessary house repairs so I have tightened my belt to cirulation cutting off degrees. :o Have spent a while wondering about the unfairness of those who don't pay their bills. OH carries out work for them in good faith and they just refuse to pay. We have two small claims actions pending atm which I could honestly do without.

From where I am sitting in my living room I can see a huge cruise ship in the bay. Wish I could stow away on it for a few days and come back when all our late paying clients have found their consciences .

Just read through the various posts about your illness - and just echoing what others have said - ie that at least you now know what you are dealing with.

In any context - illness or otherwise - in life I am convinced that the first rule of "How to cope" is "know what you are dealing with". It always always helps a lot IMO.

So - I'll be glad for you that you now have that diagnosis. I know someone who has had this for years and they seem to have it under control now that they know what it is and I cant see any evidence that it stops them from getting on with life as they have planned to. Now you have the information - you can make the plan as to what to do about it.

I think its very fortuitous that you've found out what it is at this juncture - which should help you in dealing with the work situation you are in.

Take care my lass - and keep us posted.

Glad to see you back with us again BTW - and hope things will go well with you re your health problems and I still think you deserve a lot of "pats on the back" for being there for your friend when it came to it. She obviously trusts you (and I use the present tense quite deliberately there...) a lot with the way she knew you would help deal with things as soon as you got there. I think you can take that as one HUGE compliment to yourself:T. She is (again - I've deliberately used the present tense here) a very good judge of character. As we know the circumstances you are in - then its obvious that you have done a LOT for her - and you are well entitled to "rate yourself well" on that:T

Aaaargh - house full of smoke.

Stupid me left a frying pan on a ring whilst I had my MS mostly whoopsied evening meal. Realised I could hardly see across the room and knew immediately what had happened.

There was a bit of oil left in the pan so the bottom is alright and I'm soaking the manky sides with bio washing powder and water so hopefully OK. Smoke has cleared but my throat feels rough.

Drama over and all's well. It's been a cooler day today so have again been outside walking/working. My lovely neighbour gave me some more of his broad beans and I have a tomato ripening - a lovely orange colour so far. Bring on the glut - I've got plans :rotfl:
