I planted a bed of turnip greens for the hens, but we might eat some now. Might. To be honest I couldnt taste much, just very faint hint of turnip. And lovely butter
I have not turned green.

That's the spirit Pigsmayfly - good for you :T
Seems some people on here have been rooting in my cupboard and have found my soapbox - litter and poo drive me potty  . We do have a village litter picker so it's not too bad but the stuff teenagers leave at the picnic site down the road ..... 2 litre bottles of Coke and Vimto - half full, lager cans, crisp packets and lots of fast food wrappers. It seems to happen in waves. And as a dog owner who does pick up after my dog I feel perfectly entitled to think very meanly of people who don't.
On the other hand, I had a small financial windfall today and when out with the dog a passing lorry driver called out "lovely dog, that" so soapbox packed away again.
A neighbour has given me some fresh broad beans which I'll be having with a bit of cod and cheese sauce tonight, and all my jobs for the day are done.
Life is good today

It's a bit overcast now but it was lovely earlier. I have some ironing and tidying up to do. Dh has gone to Wimbledon on a corporate thing. He was not looking forward to it because he hates all the small talk but I hope he enjoys the day.
I had the leftover Spanish potatoes for lunch and they tasted lovely reheated. I needed to get back to meal planning because I have no idea what to make tonight. I think it will be macaroni cheese.
I am pretty tired today. I think I have overdone it going to the gym. I need to summon up some energy to do some weeding. I am waiting on our plumber coming to install a tap outside. She also has to fill in a big hole in the path was left after she resited the water mains tap when installing the boiler. I need it filled before my parents come. Then I plan to sort the front garden out.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

There are some truly angelic people on this thread which I am very thankful for. :A
I think someone must be looking out for us at the moment as we had an emergency court case regarding our neighbours and the first part went in our favour. There is now an injunction against them outlining what their limitations are. I had to prepare and give a statement about their behaviour and it was 14 pages long! The next emergency court case (eviction) is next week as the judge ruled that there was sooo much evidence against them that they would need 7 extra days to go through it. If this is successful they will be evicted by the police on the same day as it is a very serious case. Infact we were told today that this family are the worst that the council, police and courts have had to deal with in years. Having listened to the list of charges brought against the family I have to say my household has got off pretty lightly and considering I do confront them about their behaviour I have been very lucky!
Anyway, we have raspberries at the bottom of our garden and last night my hubby and daughter picked 3 huge bowl fulls! I am now frantically looking for recipes to use them all up. Today I will be making a raspberry cheesecake and muffins. Luckily my daughter loves them and will probably eat a bowl full herself!
Sorted out some banking issues this morning and had to transfer money round. Will really need to move our joint account as it is costing us a fortune in overdraft fees. We are with the bank that gives you extra and they charge a £1 a day for using your overdraft! We put in enough money but because of the way our wages our paid and the dates the direct debits come out there is a time in each month when we go into our overdraft. It's quite complicated and something I want to sort out whilst I am on maternity leave.
Lastly a big hug to all those that need one at the moment.'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'
Proud Mummy to two gorgeous miracles.:j0 -
Jedi - that sounds so positive that you are finally seeing an end to your problem neighbours, well done.
Not had time to fully catch up as internet been playing up, will try catch up later.
Am so tired at the moment with all the extra house stuff but at least I can see progress. Had planned a garden day tomorrow to tackle a tidy up and also trim all the existing plants right back whilst Oh is off and my friend was willing to help - however dad has just decided that we are to go into Liverpool tomorrow and as he has been so good recently I didnt feel able to refuse. Its a problem though as its OH last day off so the last chance for garden work till Thursday, and as DD16 wants to hold a small garden party for boyfriends birthday weds - it means it will still be a mess.
Had a report for DS7 today on the road to formal autistic diagnosis - whilst it is very accurate it does make for difficult reading, seeing in black and white all his difficulties and the comparisons to "normal" children.
Have been back to wilkinsons for more stuff today - I swear I should have bought shares!! and they are selling all the seeds 75% off if anyone fancies stocking up for next year.
A few weeks back - someone posted elderflower champagne links - I have lost them with computer outage - if anyone can be so kind as to point them out again please:)
And mardatha - did I read right?? GREENS!!! ???? Wow!! Spinach and Kale next??0 -

Babysitting for DGs tonight for an hour, or rather am fixing stuff and gardening at Dd's

I am hoping beating the heck out of it and using the remoska will help. Maybe raising agents?
I used a scone recipe from the remoska booklet a couple of years ago and everyone loved it - but lost the booklet!!!
Have decided to just use up stuff and experiment - DH and DDs will throw out stuff otherwise and I don't want that.
I am also hoping that if everything is in a jar and undated and tidy then it can be used up and enjoyed instead of sneered at.
Hi - not up to date with the thread yet but just wanted to say that i have a bag of the scone mix from Approved Foods and it makes great scones which are on the sweet side of plain.
Not sure what to do if your's tastes salty, but please don't beat the mixture - scones should be handled and mixed as little as possible.
If the rise is a problem you could try using diluted plain live yoghurt as the mixing liquid, but then just mix very roughly with a fork, turn out onto a floured board and draw the mixture together by patting it with your hands into a lump, then pat it flat with your hands until about an inch to an inch and a half high and then cut out scones.
Hope that this helps
Oh and good call on the mushrooms for pie, Grey Queen - tinned mushrooms are a bit soggy and tasteless (in my opinion) and so not worth it at all really.0 -
This thread is so special, filled with wonderful people with big hearts. It really makes my day to know there are shoulders i cry on and hugs to share. May this thead live long. :T-2lbs
