I'm now working a minimum wage job which I'm so grateful for but it's not exactly the job I got my degree for. I was bought up to be careful with money and my mum was remarking on how me and OH are doing things the old fashioned way ie being grateful for donated household items, saving up for a nice tv rather than just going out and buying it on credit but I can't help feel that most people my age haven't grown up yet and are still having a good time whilst I'm struggling with making ends meet.
By building up slowly you'll be more stable financially. All your peers may build up years of debt, large mortgage and may run the risk of losing it all in 10 - 15 years time.

Evening all
I am trying not to be too jealous of all the strawberries/courgettes/peas etc being harvested elsewhere. Most of my produce may be a little small at the moment but.................
i do have some kale to harvest (bet your all jealous eh:rotfl:).
It's been a hectic few days at work but during the chaos i've been listening and talking to a colleague who is worried about his finances, however at the end of the conversation he told me he has just bought a car that he can't afford because he thought he needed one, well that left me speechless, which is no small feat as i can talk for Scotland when prompted:D.
I am away now to check out my ever growing veg in the hope that something has grown in the last 10 minutes (born optimist)
Hugs to all if you need one or just fancy one xMoving towards a life that is more relaxed and kinder to the environment (embracing my inner hippy:D) .:j0 -
Had a fun afternoon talking to year 4 at my sons school about food in the Tudor times (with lots of authentic food which they devoured like Gannets! including pottage). Am now completely exhausted and tomorrow I am back in to talk about and inclusively demonstrate War.
Why is this relevant to this thread, well most of the food was real and most of the kids could not recognise it - so what do they get fed at home and they loved what was effectively cabbage soup. This was 9 year olds asking what pork shank was. I do this for free because I love history and always think the way to any persons heart and mind is through the stomach.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0 -

İ was listening to the radio at lunchtime about the class system and it explained how the call centre staff of today have become the new workers exposed to the draggonian work practices that were practiced during the 'victorian' era. its coming full circle!
İ am coming home to the uk to survey the differences that have occured during the past 12 months. i expect lots of things to have happened but on previous occasions i have been 'disappointed' as not much seems to change.--what should i look for as radicle changes in the uk--shops and behaviour??-last time i left the uk i was upset by how everyone was so discoutious and generally !!!!sed off people were! the bus driver hated everyone on the coach and on the road!-the charity shops that i love to shop in were getting pricey and scarce of decent products--should i avoid them?
I think it will be interesting for us to hear your own observations on how things have changed in the last year. You don't always notice when things occur gradually.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEDI0
