However, the thing about protein got me wondering so I did some investigating and each of these things add up to about 10g of protein (I know that veggie sources need to be combined with other things to make them complete proteins) but this is just an incredibly rough guesstimate (and please don't assume this is correct - I may have made a mistake!):
    - half a pint of semi-skimmed milk
    - 2 eggs
    - half a standard sized can of baked beans
    - half (80g- ish) a small to medium can of salmon
    - a couple of large bowls of breakfast cereal (before milk)
    - a meal-sized bowl of split pea and veg soup etc.

Thanks for the list. According to the information I found, a 10 stone 10lbs individual would need to eat almost all the items on the above list (or their equivalent) every day, to obtain the minimum amount of protein required (55g). The mistake a lot of people make is to weigh the raw meat or cheese and assume it's all protein. We have information overload on how many servings of fruit and veg we need but lack guidance on eating enough protein for good health especially now that a lot of people are cutting whole food groups (e.g. dairy, cereals, meat, even all animal products) out of their diet for health or other reasons.
  • Afternoon all! not been on this weekend as have been away and the thread's grown again!

Had a bit of a crisis yesterday, the ceiling in the living room collapsed! there was water in between the floorboards and plasterboard and it just caved in! Managed to get a hold of the landlord (thank god im renting!) and its being sorted out now! what a palarva!

Hope everyone's having a nice (and sunny) day! xxx

Some runners eat peanut butter after a workout either on toast for the carbs or just alone for the protein (and I suppose a little fat too)
