saveabob sunspot numbers rise and fall on an 11 year cycle. High numbers mean storminess and rain on the planet so cooling the planet. This is still all theory but they do know that sunspots and solar flares affect el nino, the jet stream and also communications. The jetstream was pushed sideways last winter hence the pressure difference that forced freezing conditions down. Its very complicated but it shows that we all have to do our bit to live closer to nature and besides helping the earth to survive, it will also help us to survive. There are more and more of us living closer to nature ie a more simple life. Everyone being os is doing it0

I thought that if you just hung the onions up they would dry out naturally. However, mine are sprouting!!!! How do you do this please without it affecting the onion or using a machine?
That is why I was getting `worried` as mine sprouted last time and I can`t afford to lose a big part of my crop. It is to do with warmth and humidity. I don`t know the answer redlady but I do know that it says on all the allotment boards that onions will only last to a bit after christmas. I need longer than that hence I am dehydrating0 -

so do you reckon we had that severe winter because of the oil spill then? and so you think its going to be freezing cold or wet? i know im asking alot here and i dont expect you to be a scientist just want to know your opinion as i want to prepare even more if i think we re going to be really cold again.0

no not the oil spill. It was global warming because the stratosphere (very high up layer) got warmer and that pushed the jet stream and we got cold because the pressure changes made the freezing arctic air come down to us. The people who study this all the time don`t know the forecast so far ahead but so far it looks like the whole winter will be colder than usual and january and february will be very bad. The thing is to prepare for the worst, then anything better is a pleasant surprise0
